Layla's POV

"Ryan stop, I'm going to be late" I uttered quietly.

"Who cares? It's only Evelyn, she can wait" Ryan mumbles, as his soft lips trace down my neck.

I've arranged for Evelyn and I to meet up at our usual place, Mint Cafe, and catch up. In other words, tell her I'm now engaged. It wouldn't feel right, not telling her first, she's my best friend.

Although, I'm kind of worried about how she will react. She's never really liked Ryan, come to think of it, those two hate each others guts and only get along for my sake.

Evelyn always tells me that I'm wasting my time with him. I disagree, why else would he of asked for my hand in marriage?

"Ryan, please" I whine.

His lips pressed against my neck one last time before his gaze met mine.

"Alright, you win" Ryan murmurs.

I snicker, get up from the couch and start for the door when suddenly, arms wrap around my hips and pull me back.

I let out a gasp of shock.

I'm now seated on Ryans lap. I feel as if I'm a child again, like I'm sitting on Santa's knee and about to tell him what I want for Christmas.

"Ryan-"

I'm cut off by Ryan placing his index finger on my lips and shushing me.

"Do you need a ride?" he asks, taking away his finger from my mouth.

"Nah it's only a walk around the corner, I'll be fine" I say, as I remove myself from his hold and walk towards the door.

"Alright then, have a good time babe" he says.

"Will do, see you later" I call out, before closing the door behind me.

Walking to Mint doesn't take me very long, 5 minutes the most, as soon as I walked through the entrance I saw Evelyn already seated at a table.

Her dark brown hair seemed to sparkle from the cafe lighting, and her skin glowed. She was so beautiful.

She never believed you when you said that though. A real stubborn pain in my ass she was, most of the time, but I love her to bits.

"Hey stranger" Evelyn smiled, as I ran over to the table.

"Hey beautiful" I grinned, as I hugged her tight.

She took a step back and her face showed a look of disgust. See what I mean, she can never take a compliment.

We both take a seat, and just stare at each other for a short while with stupid grins on our faces.

Then, she spoke.

"So, whats been happening lately?"

I turn my head and hold out my hand so she could get a good look at the ring.

"Holy shit, that's a big rock! Wait, is that-" She pauses, "An engagement ring?! Mate! What the fuck?"

I turn my head back to face her and she looks puzzled.

I grin.

"Wow Evelyn, you actually managed to figure that all out on your own? I'm impressed." I smirked, sarcastically.

"Haha very funny Layla" she said, while rolling her eyes.

I poked out my tongue, and in return she kicks me underneath the wooden table with her white ankle boots.
