She then sat down. Derrick sighed in relief.

"Alright then. Case closed, in favor of Derrick and Rose Johnson!" the judge banged his javel. "Quinn, you have 48 hours to turn Cassandra over to the Johnsons."

Derrick stood and walked over to Rose, smiling in relief. He hugged his wife carefully and she hugged back. He was cute in a tux...

"Carry me?" Rose asked.

Derrick chuckled. "I would if I could, sweetheart."

She pouted and then they walked out together.

Derrick never called it a power. He just called his little girl a genius. Being a typical genius himself, he wasn't too concerned.

Not too long after, only one of the twins were born... Instead of naming her Bella, they named her Rylee. They didn't want to stick with the original twin names, though in honor of her sister who didn't make it, they decided to have her middle name be Brynlee.

Not too much longer after that, Derrick and Rose got divorced.

Derrick and Casey worked on numerous projects together as father and daughter. She was oblivious that she was adopted. Rylee was a quiet, sweet child. She wouldn't talk until she was 3 and a half because she was so busy listening.

Rylee was pretty smart, because she was surrounded by geniuses. Besides that, she was a fairly average child, though she always loved art. And tomorrow, she was going to start kindergarden!

Casey and Derrick were working on an experiment to heal people together and left it on their work counter. Rylee thought they were in there, so she skipped inside. She realized they weren't there, but decided to see what they were working on. She put her hands on the table and tried to pull herself up to see.

Suddenly, the glass beakers slid towards her. Her eyes widened and then the table fell on her too. The glass broke and what was inside spilled especially near her head. Hitting her head, she passed out.

Hearing the loud thump and the glass from the kitchen, Casey and Derrick ran in to check what happened.

Casey's eyes widened immensely. "Rylee!!!"

Derrick ran over and quickly picked up the table off of her before picking Rylee up. He noticed she was dry regardless of the liquid on the floor around her from their experiments. That was odd... Had she absorbed it? Derrick frowned and cradled his youngest closely. Poor thing...

He carried her to her room to rest while Casey started cleaning up sadly, worried about her little sister.

The next day, Rylee woke up and ran in to eat breakfast, smiling happily. "Good morning, dada! Morning, sissy!"
She happily ate her pancakes.

"Hey Ry. How are you feeling?" Derrick asked with a small smile, inwardly concerned.

"Good!" Rylee smiled. "Time for school today!!"

Derrick sighed in relief and chuckled. "Yup! It is. In fact, it's time to go soon."

"Okay, dada!" Rylee grinned.

After school, he came to pick her up and she was sobbing.

Derrick hurried over. "Rylee? What's wrong?"

The teacher walked over. "Albert broke his arm and was crying and then she just started sobbing... I couldn't get her to stop."

Albert sat, frowning and crying too.

Derrick frowned, confused. "Oh... Well... I better get her home..."
He picked up his little girl and walked out.

The farther they got away from the class, the calmer she got.

"Why were you crying, Ry?" Derrick asked, frowning.

"He was sad and I felt it, so I was sad!" Rylee sniffed.

"You felt that he was sad...?" Derrick asked, confused.

"Yeah... In his head, he was sad. So I was sad too because I felt it!" Rylee replied.

Derrick remembered the experiment they worked on and his eyes widened. He unintentionally gave his daughter powers... Oh dear...

He then shrugged it off. Powers or no powers, it wasn't a big deal. She would be fine... She was a sweet, loving girl.

A few months later, she unintentionally healed him and he realized parenting two kids who were above average as a single dad would be a challenge... But he was up to it. He loved his kids... They were some of the best people left in his life.
