It's already 2 AM. I'm in our drive way in Atlanta. Still hesitant. I went out of the car and started to walk towards our door. I opened it with a spare key that I got. Turned on the lights and Quentin ran towards me. I don't know if he is just hungry or he misses me. I picked him up and started petting him. I carried him to the kitchen and then I put him on the sink. I took his bowl and I opened a can of cat food. I give him the bowl and he went gaga. I opened the fridge and I took the gallon of milk. I poured myself a glass of it and I sat on the dining table.
"Oh Quentin. I'm sorry" I say.
Well, he just meowed at me. I wish I knew what it means because it could mean anything. Like "Fuck you Caleb" or "You're a fucking idiot" or anything at all.
"I know Quentin. I know"
I turn the lights off and went upstairs to my room. I entered and just stood up. I started to observe my surrounding. I went to my study table and checked my things. I found the vinyl player that I bought with Michelle. It was the day I met her. I went to the garage and searched for Dad's stuff. I'm trying to find his vinyl collection. I opened a box and there it was. Pantera, Metallica, Slayer and many other metal bands. I opened another box and it was another set of vinyl but much better. Duran Duran, R.E.M, Talking Heads, The Cure and a lot. But the one that stands out for me is Snow Patrol. I didn't know that Dad has a vinyl of 'em. I took R.E.M and Snow Patrol with me. I tried playing R.E.M first. The vinyl player worked. I sat down and just listen to Losing My Religion. I got sleepy while listening to them. I stood up and change the vinyl. Chasing Cars played. I lie down on my bed and let Snow Patrol sing me to sleep.
I woke up it was already 12 AM. I didn't go to church for the first time since we moved here in Atlanta. I checked my phone and my messages were flooding. Messages from Nathalie, Josh, Heather, Tony and Mom. I deleted all of the messages because I know that all of it are negative. I went to the kitchen to make myself some breakfast. I checked the fridge and all we got was bread, tomatoes, bacons and ketchup. I guess Mom didn't buy some stuff for the house before she left. I'm not really a big fan of bacon. I took the bread and ketchup. I know it sounds disgusting but I spread the ketchup unto the bread. I mean, it's worse than bacon. I know I have money and I can go to Thorent's but this day is for me and Quentin. I opened can of cat food and put in his bowl. I went to the living room and turned the T.V. on. Regular Show was on. I ate my ketchup sandwich and then Quentin sat next to me. My right hand is holding my sandwich and my left one is petting him. I finished my sandwich and then I realize that I didn't get a glass of water. I poured myself a glass and then someone knocked. Surprised as I went to open the door. It was Nixon.
"Hey Nixon" I say.
"What's up Adamson? I was in the neighborhood and I saw your car. I thought I'll come by to say hi" He says.
Wow, that is very surprising. Nixon saying went to my house to say hi?
"Well, okay. Uh, you wanna come in?" I ask.
"Sure"
I led the way to our living room and I sat down on the couch. He sat on the stool. There was an awkward silence between us. I don't know if I'm gonna start a conversation.
"Where have you been anyway?" He asks.
"Orlando. My grandmother died" I reply.
"Orlando?" He asks.
"Yeah, you know anyone there?" I ask.
"Well, my uh. My biological mother lived there" He says.
"Oh. Really?" I ask.
"Yep."
Damn. I didn't know that his mother is alive or anything about his parents at all.
