It was a man with dark red hair. His body looked as if it had been deprived of sunlight and food for years, it probably had been. He was slightly taller than me and looked about forty years old. He wore a fine red suit with a black tie. The man’s face was, in a word, terrifying. His eyes were completely blank, the pupils lifeless. A sick smile played on the man’s face, as if his action’s pleased him.
Around him were critters, the most notable being the spider that sat on his shoulder, right next the firm rope completely wrapped around his neck. Every rope has another end, this one was no exception. The part of the rope not suffocating the corpse of the man’s neck was tightly tied to a ceiling fan.
The man’s body swayed ever so softly, his lifeless limbs dangling, he was at least four feet off the floor.
His smile… It looked twisted, even demonic. I never believed in demonic undertaking, but this man made me consider starting. His lips were extremely pale, so much it could easily be mistaken as white. Even more pail was his skin, which looked far too similar to a zombie for my comfort.
“M-Mr. W-W-Wolfe, i-is t-that y-you sir?” I heard Abraham stutter. I hoped he wasn’t expecting an answer from this Wolfe.
“You know him?” I asked.
“H-He’s our b-boss, the p-president of Adrenal Research Facilities.”
My eyes widened as I gasped. No wonder Abraham reacted so strongly. I was actually surprised Aaron hadn’t responded in a similar way. Aaron did look sullen, but nowhere near as shocked as Abraham. I assumed Aaron wasn’t the biggest fan of the guy. That. Or maybe Aaron had… no, no way he’d do something like that.
“We need to get him down; I don’t want to inspect the room with the shadow of a dead man hanging above my head.” Aaron muttered at his feet. I nodded my head and climbed on a desk that had been behind him. I reached up and untied the knot that had been tied to his neck.
I unfortunately forgot the fact hat he was actually hanging; so he unceremoniously fell to the ground in a huge heap of limbs.
“Aaron, do you think you could help me carry him away?” I asked Aaron for two reasons. One, because Abigail was likely not strong enough and Abraham seemed temporarily frozen in shock.
Secondly, I wanted to know why Aaron didn’t react so much to seeing his dead boss. Did he already know he was dead? Did he kill him himself? Did he just not like the guy? If so, why did he not like him? He was paying Aaron well according to the story he told me earlier. All these thoughts ran through my mind as me and Aaron carried the man out of the room into the library. We decided to clear a section of a bookshelf out and lay his corpse there. It wasn’t exactly a traditional burial, but it was something.
“Didn’t like him much did you?” I asked Aaron as we put the body down. He looked over to me in the eyes and darkened temporarily
“No, I wasn’t his biggest fan.” Aaron didn’t look me in the eye, something I noticed he always does when he’s nervous.
