They tried to see if her face showed any signs of joking, but it showed anything besides that.

This made them think.

They didn't know the full details of how Iruma brought [Name] back to life, actually, it completely seemed surreal when they saw it happen.

They did panic when they saw the reckless girl's body fly back and hit the wall, but they couldn't do anything either way.

Just stand.. and observe. That's all they had to offer.

They had no problem with this. It gave them a chance to see [Name]'s reaction to the situation, and thinking back on it now, it made them believe she didn't remember what happened in the killing game.

Iruma was a genius, no one could deny that. Perhaps she managed to repress [Name]'s memories of what happened in that academy.

It seemed logical and possible.
They... they still needed more evidence on it though, before they can ponder about it once more and draw to a conclusion.

No matter what, doing that to [Name] was probably the right call to avoid her having PTSD, but it's effecting the memories she's making now.

...

Maybe they'll gather more information on that decision too. A better option could've present itself when it came to [Name]'s memories.

...

Nothing makes sense when you have little to no evidence on a questionable situation.

...

"If you don't mind, I would like to ask what's–um.. troubling you...?" Their steady voice wavered a bit, their calm aura soon turning to a nervous one.

She giggled, a smile appearing on her face.

This person was worried about her. How cute.

This made her appreciate them even more than before.

They were beginning to feel like her hero. A hero she truly deserved.

Iruma was nice, but it was painfully obvious that the creative genius had trouble interacting properly.

Those insults were something she could never forget, but they felt empty to her, making her believe that what Iruma said wasn't really something she wanted to say.

Ah, she was thinking about the vulgar girl again.

[Name] should really focus on other things, considering that this place was incredibly peaceful, unlike the house she stayed in for....

for...

How long has it been again?

Another wave of pain made her head throb.

...

Don't.. focus on that. Focus on something else, like the person you're with right now.

Don't think about Iruma right now. Don't think about it.

Talk to this person. Find out who they are. Do something. Do anything. Just stop this–

"Are you a boy or a girl?" The cute female asked, her eyes landing on a little red insect with black dots on their tiny wings.

The voices stopped. This relieved her.

However, in the stranger's perspective, they were taken aback by that question. Did the way they talk not give out their identity?

Did she really not know who they are at all?

This was more serious than they thought.

They tried to play it cool, as if they weren't stuck in their own thoughts just now. "My voice.... doesn't give you a clue?"

They hoped she was joking, but she shook her head.

Sighing, they revealed their gender to her. "I'm a boy." They said.

"You don't sound like one.." Her response was immediate compared to the other times she talked. Was she only doing that so she could pull a joke in at the last second?

No, no. They can't let their low self esteem get in the way of this.

"Sorry. I probably shouldn't have asked a question like that. You probably hate me now." She murmured.

"Not quite... I'd say it's actually.. uh.." He trailed off, his ears suddenly picking up footsteps.

He recalled no one being around this area. In fact, no other living human was in a town like this. It was only these two, so it only lead him to the possible conclusion that–

"You scared that weird thing on the ground." [Name] announced, her hand pointing to the insect that began to fly away.

He never noticed a Ladybug was on the ground. They meant luck, right?

He was surely going to need it.

"Hey, dipshit!"

He turned his head and looked behind him, his eyes falling onto the figure that committed a murder and got away with it.

She still looked the same. Pretty and obnoxious. A little dirty, probably from finishing some inventions.

He vaguely remembered her saying she wanted to help the world with them. No doubt that she kept her word for sure.

Maybe that's why... he didn't have the courage to expose her. He always ran away from the truth, being afraid and not wanting to get hurt from it, but that was his downfall.

Facing the truth was a must...

....

and that's why Shuuichi Saihara will look forward from now on and protect [Name] from the inventor who murdered her in cold blood.

Notes:

- Did anyone notice how our dear reader never bothered to look at him at all? She was too focused on her thoughts and Iruma, that she never did took a glance at him.

- Also, my apologies for the long wait for this chapter. I forgot about this book.

- Once this book is finished, they'll be an extra chapter summarizing the whole thing. That's in case you want an explanation.

-  Don't hesitate to point out a typo. It's 5 in the morning and I wrote this whole thing in two hours.
