“What about Nate and Brittney,” Christian asked me as we sat down on the love
seat in the living room.
“They can come over,” I said. “You should text Nick and Sarah and invite them
over, too.”
“Sir, yes, sir,” Christian said jokingly.
“Is that an insult,” I asked him.
“No, so calm down,” he said kissing the top of my head.
“Wow, you two fit together so well,” my mom laughed from the recliner. I had
totally forgotten that she was in the room. I was so embarrassed!
“Kate, are you embarrassed,” Christian asked me with a hint of shock in his voice.
“What, no,” I said like the idea of me being embarrassed was impossible.
“Oh, she totally is but there’s no need embarrass her further,” my mom said.
“Thank you, mother,” I said giving her the evil eye.
After that we started watching Accused at 17.
Brittney
It seemed like we had been sitting at the clinic for hours, but when I checked the
time I had only been there for fifteen minutes.
“Brittney,” the nurse finally called my name.
The nurse weighed me, checked my height, and then had me pee in a cup. The
routine checkup, she assured me.
Finally, we were put in a room where we only had to wait a couple of minutes
before Dr. Hollington came in.
“Hello, Brittney,” he said, “how are you feeling today?”
“Miserable, is there anything that will make this sickness go away,” I asked
almost immediately.
“I’m sorry, you have to wait that out,” Dr. Hollington answered. “Although, for
most women the sickness isn’t as bad once they start taking prenatal vitamins.”
“Okay,” I said kind of relieved.
“We were wondering if she has the flu on top of her morning sickness,” Nate told
Dr. Hollington.
“I believe you do since your temperature seems to be kind of high,” Dr.
Hollington told me as he looked at the nurse’s notes.
“Is there something that will make that go away,” I asked hopefully.
“Just rest,” Dr. Hollington answered. “Normally if a patient was farther along I
would suggest bed rest, but seeing as how early into this pregnancy you are I
don’t think there’s anything to worry about.
