Maya POV
I was sitting in my bay window watching the trees shake in the wind. The forest next to me was dark and curiously clawing my attention. I was calm. It felt as if my eyes couldn't look away. Like I was in a trance.

My dark room faded away in the trance. My gray covers with my black quilt. My drawings on the walls. My bookshelves and my school backpack lying on the chest at the footboard of my bed.

Everything except the forest seemed to blur and dissolve. Even with the window in front of my face, I could smell the forest and feel the wind. I hear every leaf rustling on every branch.

Then I saw it. A black cat with golden, shining eyes stared up at me and bursted into view. The cat sat there for a moment and something urged me to follow it.

I quickly went downstairs and quietly opened the back door leading to the forest. It was barely chilly in my dark yellow sweater and my ripped black jeans. I was wearing converse and my blonde hair was loose except for the hair under the black beanie on my head. The tips of my hair were dyed red and darkened the farther down the hair went.

I could hear all the leaves crunching under my shoes. I continued to duck under every branch. The cat would look back every once in a while and then continue on. It was satisfying to be in nature. To feel like I could let go and do whatever I wanted. There was bright, white light from the full moon above. No clouds were covering it so it was a beautiful sight.

Ahead I could see a ring of stones in a clear section of the forest. I had wondered quite a distance from my house but I was drawn to the forest and I was fully awake. The cat sat in the middle of the stones and I saw the opening in the trees where the full moon could be seen perfectly. The cat moved out of the circle and I felt something inside tell me to go to the center. I slowly walked and felt a great power fill my being. The wind hardened and my beanie had flown off and my hair was flowing wildly. I could feel my feet begin to lift off the ground and leaves circled my body like a tornado. After just a few seconds the winds stopped and I was back on the ground. I was confused about what happened and went to go grab my beanie and fix my hair. While kneeling down to grab it, the cat sat in my lap and began to purr. It had no collar but seemed to like me. I stroked its fur and grabbed my hat. After fixing my hair, I picked up the cat and took it back home. I found that it was a she and named her Moonlight. As soon as I got back in my room with moonlight I saw that clouds had started to cover the moon and the forest was calm. A wave of sleepiness came over me and Moonlight and I fell asleep.

At that time I didn't know what happened, but I'd surely find out soon enough.
