A rumble echoed through the Rampion. Kozel fell off her chair, the rumble shaking the room, the cold metal of the floor shocking her awake. Standing, she looked around to get her bearings. She was in the engine room. Rumbles and pistons moving were all that she heard, but the rumbles now sounded... Different. She got up and stumbled grabbing the back of the chair as another rumble echoed through the rampion and shook the room. She rushed to the door and it slid open with a whirring sound. She rushed down the dull grey hallway into the cockpit to find Okai (oh-KAI) and CoBa (SO-va) sitting near the back, watching the monitors, scanners, and gauges for any sign of malfunction.
"CoBa! There's something wrong with the engines!" CoBa checked the scanners again, but nothing showed nearby.
"There's nothing on the scanners so we couldn't have hit something." Kozel groaned, frustrated from his answer.
"Check them again!" She cried. CoBa rolled his eyes, but obeyed and turned around to check everything again. Okai swiveled in his chair to face his sister, amused by her grumpy mood.
"Where's Mlem?!" Kozel asked him.
"The captain should be in his chair," Okai replied. CoBa looked back to find Kozel's face red with anger. As she marched toward Mlem, the snoring coming from his chair became ironically louder. Okai leaned back in his chair as if he were about to watch his favorite show.
"Please don't hurt him." CoBa pleaded. He knew firsthand how Kozel can get when she's mad. It was no use. Her pace softened, but not enough to show that she was going to go easy on poor Mlem. When she reached his chair she grabbed the back of it and spun it so fast, that Mlem woke in seconds. He gasped and, idiotically, let go of his chair. He flung into the left side of his control panel, sending the ship careening sideways. Kozel reached around him and straightened them back out before everything on the ship fell out of place. Okai, unable to control himself, burst out laughing. CoBa groaned.
"Kozel! I told you not to hurt him!" Kozel's face flushed. She looked over to CoBa with a menacing stare.
"Uhm, sorry. I guess I didn't hear you. Do you wanna go for a spin too?" CoBa smiled nervously.
"Uh, no thanks, In fact, I'm going to go clean something." He squeaked and sped away. At this point, Okai was doubled over laughing in his chair at the whole situation. Suddenly, the ship rattled and chemical smoke started to fill the room. Strange crashes and rumbles echoed around the crew. Mlem had started to stand but was now sliding back down the controls behind him. Okai's chair popped from it's bolted place on the floor and fell backward. Mlem hid under his control panel, CoBa ran back into the room confused. He frantically looked around and calmed immediately when he saw mlem under the control panel.
"I'm coming, Mlem!" He yelled. Kozel was making her way through the mess on the floor.

"Stay where you are, little brother!" She called to Okai, even though he was only 4 years younger. CoBa was now under the table with Mlem, and the clangs coming from the walls were getting louder.
"Kozel!" Mlem yelled. "Get to cover! This smoke is dangerous!" abruptly, CoBa shoved Mlem out from under the table. The wall beside them was bending in, almost like it was staring under the pressure of something on top of it. In the haze of smoke, Kozel had lost direction. She turned around in circles, looking for something that would show her where her brother was. The smoke got thicker, and the ship lurched again, hurtling Kozel into the wall. She stood again, but the smoke was so heavy she couldn't see anything. All at once, the ship dipped and swerved, and everything fell off its hinges. Kozel fell into something sharp, and she screamed as it punctured her stomach. CoBa and Mlem held on to the handles by the doors, clutching each other for dear life. Okai braced himself on the floor, not letting a single breath of air be wasted, as the ship hurtled down to a strange blue and green planet.
