I hate platitudes, every single one of them. There is one, however, that speaks to me: there is a fine line between love and hate. I know for a fact that this saying is true; I have witnessed it firsthand. What has me wondering, though, is whether or not this line is a one-way street. Maybe it is; maybe one can go back and forth between the two. Yet, is it possible for one to get caught up in the middle? Is there an area between the two where one might get stuck? Can the two coexist within a person? Or is one of them bound to be overshadowed by the other? For the life of me, I cannot figure it out. Can you?
I have seen people love; I have seen people hate. I have seen people go from love to hate and the other way around. What I have not seen, or rather had not seen before now, is someone loving a person with one breath and hating them with the next. The bipolarity of it puts this person's feelings to question, but I can assure you, this person is completely genuine. He is sick, some might say; but to which sickness do they refer? One that is treatable or the dreadful other? This is what my life has come down to: finding the answer to that question. If I do not, God help me, I will either live with a broken heart or broken bones and I might even wind up with a broken neck someday.
