After my last few classes of the day, I meandered my way back to the dorm. I honestly did not want to be seen in public, after what happened with Harry I am too embarrassed to show myself. Childish, I know. But I do not react well to public situations and embarrassment.
Once I reached the oh so familiar dorm room I breathed a sigh of relief. I opened the door to see Briar laying on the floor in a straddle split. Ah, the perks of dancing since you were a three year old. I remember all the times we made up combinations and dances to random songs in my little dance room. Although seeing Briar chilling in a split with her head touching the ground was funny, that was not what made me laugh.
She was singing a song from The Little Mermaid at the top of her lungs.
She hasn't even had a conversation with me yet, and already she has made me feel better. My laugh must've got her attention because she stood up and ran over to me. She jumped and latched herself to me, whilst I stood there pin straight.
"Jay I'm so glad that you are here! I have so much to tell you!"
She seems to have had a good day. At least one of us was enjoying the college experience so far.
"Alright Briar, why don't you get off me now? I have a lot to tell you too."
She listened to me and hopped down. She ran and belly flopped onto her small bed, which was unmade and driving me crazy. I like things to be organized and a certain way, I get that quality from my mother. I took off my Keds and placed them by the foot of my bed. I sat on my soft comforter and looked at Briar, who seemed like she was going to burst from excitement.
"You are never going to guess what happened today!"she chirped.
"Uhm...you ran a mile dressed as a fairy princess?" I guess.
That's a thing we do. We say some random stuff all the time, everyone that is normally around us is used to it by now.
"No, I only run miles dressed as a princess on alternating Saturdays. But I do happen to have a class with that Niall boy. He gave me his number and told me about a welcome back party the frat house is having tonight."
Briar was rocking back and forth in excitement.
"You got invited to a frat party?" I asked.
"Well not only me, you too. Niall said something about you coming along for Harry."
I was shocked.
"Why would I come along for Harry? He did a terrible thing to me today that I will never be able to forgive him for! You know how I get when I am embarrassed. I cannot go."
I was serious with my answer of not going, but Briar wasn't having it. That's one thing about her, she will not stop till she gets her way. It can we quite annoying at times, but it usually ends well.
After Bri complained for thirty minutes I finally gave in. She said, "Jay you have to look really hot tonight to get back at Harry!". I rolled my eyes as soon as she said it. Why couldn't we just stay in and eat Chinese while watching Girl Code? I would be overjoyed just doing that.
Briar was in the process of getting ready for the party while I just laid on my bed. Her side of the dorm was a complete mess, and it was bothering me. I was thinking about all of the work that I am going to have to do in the morning, if I do not do it tonight. I only have one class tomorrow. I was getting a headache and all I wanted to do was sleep.
I guess I dozed off because I was woken up when a mascara tube was thrown at me.
"God damn it Briar that hurt!" I exclaimed sitting up in my bed and rubbing the spot on my arm that was hit. Briar plays softball, why doesn't she realize how hard she throws!
