"Mom" are we there yet"? asks young 14-year-old Marina. "not for a little while yet," says Marina's mom Sarah, "you're pretty excited about this trip aren't you"? "well, of course, we're going to the beach which means... swimming!!"
Hi I'm Marina and I'm 13 years old, and I live or should I say lived in Rockport, MA. But now we're on the way to Seashell Cove, a small island of the cost of California. It's apparently where my Mom's old home was, my mom, says I'm exactly like my grandma, she loved the water as much as I did, my mom thinks this trip will let me know who I really am.
"ok guys were here!!" Say's my mom as she pulled up to a beach cottage that looks old and rustic, with a hammock hanging on two palm trees and the ocean a few feet away from it, I think I'll love it here. "Finally!!!, that only took 5 years" I race out to the beach house, to hug Granny "Marina, how are you" "I'm fine Granny, I'm going to get my swimsuit on" I rush to the room that is filled with mermaid and ocean themed stuff. "Granny, this is amazing, is this your room"? "it was mine when I was your age, but now it's yours"!! "OMG, really I love the mermaids!!, ok I'm going to change into my swimsuit now" Granny left, and I put on my purple mermaid shell bikini, and left for the ocean.
the water was an astonishing clear blue/green colour before I went into the water I looked around and saw that near the edge of the cove there was a cave with glistening shiny water inside, but I decided to get in the ocean instead of exploring the cave. I was about to jump in the water but then realized I forgot my finfolk productions mermaid tail so I went inside to grab my Turquoise mermaid tail. the tail is made out of silicone I wear it to my swimming practice because I brought it for Halloween and he said my record time was when I was wearing it so now I wear because in the rules it never says you can't wear a silicone mermaid tail so now I'm the fastest swimmer in my school!! but know I am going to be on the seashell cove team hopefully the coach understands. and during all of this thinking, I realized I was underwater and I didn't even think of needing air!?! I surfaced and I saw my dad swimming out to get me? I wasn't under there that long was I?
"Marina, I thought you were drowning we came out to sit on the beach and we saw you go under and we thought she's just swimming then we saw no bubbles or signs of movement after 3 minutes, I would get you after 1 but granny said she will be fine, I told Dad to go get you, and then by the time you surfaced you held your breath for 5 minutes!" said Mom super fast "well It felt like 15 seconds I wasn't even telling my self I need air, strange"
