Science

Science, it makes us understand what we are as creatures. It makes us understand the world surrounding us. It teaches us what's happening within our own bodies and the universe surrounding it. Basically, everything has a scientific explanation; the reason we laugh, the reason we cry, our biggest fear, our wildest dreams, the way we move and how we breathe ... Science is unavoidable in our everyday life , and it may be one of the reasons why we're still alive today; medicines, electronics, buildings ... all these things that are essential for our existence as human beings wouldn't be what they are today if it wasn't for science.

By how it looks, it may seem like I dislike science. It is not the case, I can't dislike something so essential for my living as a creature in this universe. Since my youngest age I've always admired science, fascinated by the outer space and veterinary medicine. I wanted to experience working in a laboratory at least once in my life. All these things made me want to be a scientist. But am I meant to be one ?

I've been studying science more intensively since I entered high school. And this made me realize that I don't want to become a scientist. I realized that I wasn't meant for this field ... My realizations may sound like a discouragement. It may sound like I gave up my desire to become a scientist. But did I really want to become one?

The truth is that I didn't give up my desires, I grew up as a person and left my childish fantasies behind. I had set another purpose in life. I discovered what I really loved, and it's something that was within my soul for as long as I can remember, way before I even discovered that there was something such as science. I realized that I shouldn't let my wild imagination go to waste. I realized that even though I appreciated science, it was keeping me from doing what I've always loved; art. I realized that I was a creator not a researcher, that I was an artist, absolutely not a scientist. Science kept me from imagining. It kept all the creativity inside of me, and it started to suffocate my soul. Art lets my imagination go behind it's limit. It makes me see the world differently. It lets me be me.

Art and science may be seen as arrows pointing at opposite directions, but there's not science without art and no art without science. Artists imagine, scientists build. Artists know how to see the world, scientists know how to understand it. Artists have a great imagination and creative minds; they have the ability to paint, write or even sing their emotions out. They introduce you to their world through their artistic work. A world where perhaps flying cars are a casual way of transportation. Or a world where people can go to the outer space for vacation. A world where the cure for all the illnesses exists ... And all of these ideas inspire the scientists, who have the knowledge and experience to create some items of the artists' worlds. And a lot of things that are existing nowadays were only science-fiction in the previous centuries, like rockets and submarines, which only existed in the past centuries' artists' minds. And artists on their side, uses modern technology to help them in their creative process; all the electronic devices where they can create their pieces of art and save it in a space where it is almost safe of any damage.

Deep down, art and science aren't opposite individual fields as a lot of people may think, but two worlds that complete one another. Artists and scientists should work together in order for everyone to see the best of the universe, but also to understand it.

With that being said, artists and scientists aren't the only ones that should be working together, but everyone should make a move and participate in changing this world and making it a better place. Because this isn't a black and white world, but a colorful world full of diversity that everyone should embrace.
