The Bucket List

Item Number Two: Get Detention

I can't say I saw this coming. Because I honestly didn't. I was at the verge of a rampage and this boy was pushing it. Jayden, knowing I was having a hard time forcing myself not to strangle him, smirked, sending me a wink that was intended to piss me off. And it did.

"Stop acting twelve for five seconds and give me my journal back!" I threatened.

"What was that?" He mocked.

"Jayden, stop playing games here. Give it back!." I yelled, my face hot-red from anger.

The whole class stopped and tuned in. Even Mari stopped, a glare overcoming her pretty little face.

"Well, then don't write about how much you love me in your diary." He winked.

"If you would ever be in my journal, it would be in the retelling of your murder, via me, which is exactly what's gonna happen if you don't give it back!"

He laughed, "Oh, is that so?"

I blushed from anger but seethed, "Give it back!"

"Why are you so anxious for me not to read it? We all know it, Farrah. You're obviously into me, or you wouldn't give a damn if I read it or not." He smirked.

I knew he only said that to rile me up and get a reaction, and not so much that he actually thought that way. I also knew that he had succeeded and I despised him more than I originally had, which felt incredible to believe. All this time I thought it was impossible to despise him more.

"Oh wouldn't you like that." I seethed.

"Um, actually I'm flattered but no I wouldn't. I mean not really from you." He laughed, eyeing me up and down like I needed his approval and wouldn't get it for the life of me.

"You're an ass, you know that? I can't understand why anyone even likes you-"

"But can you understand why no one likes you?" He smirked again, rejoicing at my anger.

I swear, that boy loved getting a reaction.

"I hate you!" I seethed.

With that, the substitute teacher woke up, though not as angry as me, he was still close behind.

"What's going on here?" He asked, getting up and placing a hand on his hip.

We ignored him and Jayden smiled cynically at me, turning to another random page of my notebook. I launched myself at him, reaching for the journal but he rose it up over my head. I jabbed him in the gut but he didn't flinch, so I crossed my arms and gave him a filthy look.

"You, You. Detention room. Now. I will not tolerate yelling in my class." he yelled.

"This isn't even your class." I rolled my eyes and tried to reach for the journal again.

"Two days!" he warned.

"You won't even be here then!" I stated.

"Three!" he turned to Jayden, "She keeps talking and I keep going up."

"If you really have a problem with this, you should've actually done your job and prevented this!" I glared at him.

"Four. I can play this all day." he said, an evil smile etched on his lips.

I was about to retort, but Jayden covered my mouth with his hand firmly, despite my muffled protests. I tried pulling his hand off, but apparently, he desperately wanted to avoid detention. I found it absolutely preposterous that I recieved detention for defending myself. It was an outrage. If I was going to get punished, I might as well have gotten punished for hurting him.

Sighing, we headed towards detention quietly, ignoring each other through the twisty corridor.

"You just had to open your mouth didn't you?" he spoke suddenly after maybe ten minutes of walking.

"Trust me I hate you." I said simply.

He stopped to lean slightly whilst staring at me, his shoulder on the white wall.

"Feeling's mutual, don't you worry." He assured me, rolling his eyes.

"Good. Maybe then you can finally leave me alone."

"You already are alone all the time, trust me, my attention is a blessing to you." He retorted.

"What do you know? You're just a jerk who, in a few years, won't be much. You think you're so cool now but you just wait. You'll have a sucky job, a litter of kids, and a trophy wife, which come to think of it, would be your greatest accomplishment." I said nonchalantly.

"You don't know anything either. For someone so oblivious, you sure think you're better than everyone."

"I don't think I'm better than anyone, I just know I'm not you."

At this, his anger radiated off of him like a grill as he shot me a look I'd be a fool not to tremble at.

"You're exactly like every girl here you know? So full of yourself."

"In that case I'm exactly like you."

At this, he walked off as he led the way to the detention room. I had to speed walk to catch up to him but I was partly glad because I had no clue where it actually was.
