“No, neither one of those is like cancer. Endometriosis is curable, but I forgot
if it’s through a procedure or medication.”
“But how could being pregnant be any better than having cancer? Kate, I’m
fifteen which means that I’m not ready to have a baby,” Brittney said totally
freaked out. She was on the verge of being hysterical.
“Brittney, calm down,” I told her. “Like I said those are just two scenarios. I’m
no doctor, but I think you should see one.”
“How many times do I have to tell you people,” she said exasperatedly. “I’m
waiting a couple weeks before I make an appointment.”
“Why are you waiting to make an appointment, though?”
“Because at least then I’ll know if my period came or not,” she answered. “If I
miss my period then I’m most likely pregnant, right?”
“Not necessarily, but I see where you’re coming from,” I said. As an after-thought I said, “Brittney, when was your last period?”
“I’ve already told you it was like two to three weeks ago,” she answered.
“No, I mean the date you got your period,” I said specifically.
“December twenty-sixth or twenty-seventh,” Brittney told me. “Why are you asking me this?”
“Brittney today is the twenty-eighth of January,” I replied.
“What’s your point,” she asked.
“I’m saying that if you get your periods on a regular basis, you would have
gotten it a couple of days ago,” I pointed out.
“So are you saying that I should make an appointment?”
“That’s exactly what I’m saying,” I told her. “Don’t sit here and let your pain
get worse, make an appointment at the clinic and let them figure out what’s
wrong.”
“Okay, I didn’t really like Dr. Williams, though,” she replied.
“As for Dr. Hollington, I really liked him; he’s a good doctor,” I said.
“Okay, should I make the appointment now, or should I wait until tomorrow?”
“Go ahead and call them right now and make an appointment,” I told her.
She was still hesitant while she picked up her phone and dialed the number.
Brittney
“Okay, that works thanks,” I said before hanging up the phone.
“What did they say,” Kate asked me.
“They have an available appointment in an hour, and they want me to go in
then,” I told her.
