"For how long will you be able to put up with this? Look at yourself! You have marks and bruises on your face, look your arm's even bleeding!" You say as you reach for his bleeding arm.
"It's not bleeding. Well, not anymore—but that doesn't matter. I told you I could take care of myself and I did. You don't need to worry about me." As you looked at it more you found that in fact, the blood had dried and only seemed to stain his clothes. But what he said didn't matter.
"How can I not when you show up here looking all. . .all torn up!?" You exclaimed, raising your voice just a little bit.
"I don't want others to put themselves before me— I don't want people to get hurt because of me." You knew Lotor wanted to rebuke what you had said, but he seemed to refuse too.
"Promise me that you won't get into anymore trouble. . .please." You say as your hand moves away from his arm and down towards his hand. You suddenly stop, realizing what you were doing and pulled away quickly. However, Lotor had grabbed a hold of your hand before you were able to even put it down to your side. What he did shocked you, and a blushing sensation began to dance all along your face.
"What is he doing!?" You didn't want the blush to be there—after all, you already had someone to call your lover. . .right? At that moment you had began second guessing yourself and your previous actions you had shown William. But before you could dive to far into the matter, Lotor had spoke up and broke the silence between the two of you.
"I've told you multiple times now that I can take care of myself. . .but I am thankful for your concern." He said with a gentle voice and smile. However, it soon disappeared, you could no longer see it, instead of a kind demeanor in his eyes you only saw resentment.
"I. . .can't keep your promise, (Y/n). I would like too, trust me, I would. . .but there's just so much wrong in this world left unpunished." You felt the palm of his hand rest gently against yours, your fingers intertwining with his effortlessly.
"I'm sorry." He saw the disappointment in your eyes, even when the darkness was currently occupying your room. You sighed, you knew that there was a big chance of him not excepting your claim, but a part of you deep down wanted him to say, "I promise" but life has a funny way of working around your hopes and expectations. You slowly release your hand from his and went back over to your bed.
"I shouldn't have asked anyway. I'm not. . .your guardian or anything, I'm sorry—what happened to Sendak?" You asked trying to change the subject quickly.
"He got a couple hits in but my friends and I were able to chase him off. . .well, for the time being. He said he'd be back. That's why I came here in the first place, to warn you—but I got sidetracked." Lotor explained.
"To warn me?" As you stay on your bed you felt goosebumps crawl all over your skin. Your eyes even widened a bit at this information.
"Don't worry though, he'll have to get past me first." He says with a cocky smile. Suddenly he had kneeled down in front of you, looking up at you with gentle eyes.
Now you really started second-guessing yourself. Was everything you had exchange with William just based off a thoughtless impulse? Were you just going along with it without noticing? Honestly, the more you thought about your current situation with him, the more you found that you were actually quite uncomfortable with it. It's not that William's not a nice guy, it's just that you've known him for so long, you guys practically grew up as brother and sister.
"What's wrong?" You suddenly hear Lotor snap you out of your thoughts. You look down at him, meeting his gaze for a few seconds, then immediately turned away. As you did you felt a burning sensation return to your face.
