-Epilogue-

Resting upon my unstable roof, I'm enchanted by the night sky.
"If there is a god, I wish upon this comet to bring me good fortune, or bring me death."
There was no reply. The universe was bright, the stars seemed too close to this wasteland planet, as if they'd come to deliver hope.
However, this was not the case.
Hope is a matter of fiction, as well as wishing upon comets and praying to a god that I don't believe in. I watched this shooting star, it seemed to have been sucked into the planet's atmosphere, for it was burning a saturated blue and now hurtling toward the woods on the outskirts of the village. I have never seen a meteor before, only read of them in the astronomical studies that i've managed to keep hidden from the church.
It seemed to have a tail of fire, just as the studies said.
It was so gorgeous, so terrifying.
Nothing had yet happened and I could already sense the hysteria looming in the air, people screaming due to their ignorance, most likely assuming this is an act of their god, coming to strike them where they stand. And maybe it was true. The world shook on impact and I slid from the chicken-wire-mended roof panels, hitting the ground on my feet.
I had landed upright, standing petrified hearing the uprising of unsettled cries echoing through the town. I watched the debris cloud the sky, engulfing the stars. Hysterical shrieking erupted from the population, flames choked the world around us, the sky was on fire. A meteor shower foreshadowed as the stars continually grew closer.
My wish had come true.
You could now smell fear in the air, it smells like fever dream sweat and wet gravel. The very land beneath me retaliated against physics and rattled vigorously. Cue panic. Entering the street, I took in my surroundings of people with mouths open wide as if their souls were leaving their body.
These people screamed as if it would help the situation, staring into the face of destruction, they choose to shriek like a banchee. Umongst this titlewave of lunacy, I felt at ease. My world was righted, maybe the church was right, there is a god? I swear the blossoms peaking through the cracks in the pavement turned to face me, the wind danced around my feet.
I feel my aura expanding inside of my chest, drawing me toward the burning woods, this was my fortune or this was my death. In this moment, I knew it was fortune, this was you. My star, my Vega. This feeling of luxury and utter tranquility washing over my scalp and coursing through my veins, this was you.
If beams of light were merely a thread in the universe, your arival was a woven blanket, brilliant rays illuminated the village, leaving not a shadow behind. As soon as it had come, it had gone. My star, you are here, I can feel you. My chest leads me to follow the receiding trail of white brilliance to the outskirts of town, I never skipped a beat, the cries of warnings only motivated me to rush more quickly to you.
So far from the colony, I am now prey. I feel no fear though, only lust. I feel your radiance, in this moment I did not need to see you to know how beautiful you are. I know stood here before you, along the trees consumed in flames, set in your glorious eye was a reflection of me, your protector.
Studying this magnificent eye, I gave myself to you, for in this moment I knew that my whole world was merely something I had made for you as your secret admirer. You did not yet know me so you were paralyzed, but I knew you. I've known you many lives. Taking your hand, the villages cries had become drowned out.
Vega, my star, my purpose.
