The Love That Didn't Last (I'm Sorry)

I dreamed a dream,
Where nothing was what it seems,
I found myself lying in bed next to you,
If only that were true,
Your arms circled around me like a shield,
With that exact moment, my heart began to heal;

When I woke up I couldn't help myself but cry,
Because you were the only one willing to give it a try,
Every time I think about our memories,
My spirit just dies,
Water fills my eyes,
I sometimes wonder if it was me who should of left;

In a world full of hate and evil,
You out of all people,
Showed me a different side,
Let me leave the place where I forced to hide,
You loved me in a way where no one else could,
Or when no else would;

I let the rain beat loud on the window,
Hoping it takes away my sorrow,
I'm sorry that didn't know how to love you right,
I'm sorry I didn't hold you tight,
There's a lot of things I could of done better;

Even though you're gone,
I can't forget about what has been done,
I hate that I made you feel alone,
If only I just changed my tone,
Maybe things would be different;

I'm sorry, I'm the one who made you leave,
I'm sorry, I made you grieve,
But now I know how it feels,
I said something wrong,
And that's why you moved along;

I still remember how you held my hands,
And let me know that you're my man,
There are days where I wish you will walk back through that door,
And you'll forget about our little war;

Instead, I go back to sleep,
Letting our broken memories creep,
And I'll cry,
Wishing I could give it one more try;

I'm sorry, I didn't stand by you,
I should of done that too,
Now I live with the past,
Wishing our love would last,
I'm sorry my love,
I didn't give you enough,
So now we live with the mistakes of the past,
Wishing our love would last;
