Chapter 24: Another Verbal Beatdown

Start from the beginning

''That if she and Kwan ever stop being so STUBBORN,'' Tucker yelled the last part.

The football player blushed, as it was well known to the twins that the two had crushes on each other. Even Star liked to tease them about it every once in a while. Everyone thinks that he and Star are together. That is a big fat NO.

''You two were never there for us, while Jazz always was,'' Danny said.

''So we can't spoil you kids...'' Jack tried.

''SPOIL US,'' White yelled. ''You'd actually have to notice us to spoil us. All you've ever done is forget and ignore.''

''Do you even care about other living beings besides yourselves,'' Danny crossed his arms. ''The entire town already knows you're crazy. And it doesn't help that every Christmas, Easter, St.Patrick's Day, or any other holiday with a mystical being, you two argue all across town. And those arguments, I add, cause you to forget us. Not one chocolate egg to find on Easter. No candy hearts or family love on Valentines Day. NOT A SINGLE PRESENT TO OPEN ON CHRISTMAS MORNING.''

''How can you two stand there and say you're their parents when it's obvious to even us mystics and ghosts that you're not,'' Ember stated, hands on her hips.

''You hurt my Daddy and Uncle,'' Dani shouted at them.

''I'm a werewolf with ice powers,'' Alain says. ''Yet even as a mystic that has both legends about eating people and having a frozen about him, you're more heartless than the clowns that made all that stuff up.''

''You freaks don't know what you're talking about,'' Maddie yelled at them.

''We know more than you,'' Lena crossed her arms and glared. ''I've met Marie Antoinette and Joan of Arc. I helped paint the Mona Lisa. But most importantly, I have seen thousands of families over the centuries. Royals that sacrifice their kingdoms to keep families together, Robin Hood types that stole to give t families that needed it, a mother who had left her home and risked the wrath of the gods to keep her child with her. You pale in comparison to all of that.''

''Family is not always about blood or law,'' Krinos says. ''Merlin himself had been the one to care for Morgan LeFey's kids when she disappeared. Like what was said at the concert. Blood does not make a family, love does. Our kinds love and rely on each other.''

''That's the difference between us and you pathetic humans,'' Ember said. ''We don't run over each other when times are tough. We fight as one, we live as one, and we are each other's family.''

''All for one and one for all,'' Gar couldn't help but shout.

            ''Huzzah,'' Krinos played along.

''That's it,'' Ma'gann snapped. ''No more Classics section, at the Isle of Stories, for you two.''

''For crying out loud, enough of your lies,'' Maddie screeched. ''You're just trying to make it so we lower our guard. That will give you a chance to attack us. All you freaks do is lie. You can't feel love, you just cause pain.''

At this point, every other human in the room was just looking at the Fenton adults like they had lost their minds. Mr.Lancer especially had his eyes opened this field trip.

He thought the field trip would help them learn to defend themselves against the ghosts and mystics. But, so far, only Walker had caused problems. Skulker, Ember, Cujo, Lena, Krinos, Wulf, Pandora, Frostbite, Alain, and Clockwork have all been kind and did nothing. Lancer was utterly shocked. Mostly with the stubborn stupidness of the Fentons.

''ENOUGH,'' White shouted, an almost sonic boom sent across the room.

''Young man...'' Maddie tried to scold.

''You,'' White snapped. ''You have no right or say in our lives, as you never cared in the first place. I was once in a talent contest. And I was nervous as hell, until my brother calmed me down. We had only been with the Fentons for three years. I was nine, and just wanted to see you at one of my performances. I won the contest, and I waited. I sat on the side of the street with my trophy, waiting for you to pick us up. Jazz had told us you'd be there soon. An hour turned into two and we still waited. In the end, we just gave up hope and walked home. Yet when we got there, once again was Jazz the only one to notice. That was, until you saw my trophy.''

For a single moment, the class was in relief that not everything about the Fentons was out of wack. That moment of relief should have been paused until after White continued.

''But that was all you saw,'' White growled. ''You saw a metal trophy. You took right from my hands and the next thing I know was you breaking it apart to use the metal for another of your failed weapons.''

The class gasped. Aqualad and Superboy were more observant of their boyfriends. While their anger was more obvious than a supernova, they were also fighting tears. Memories, things that can bring even the most far back moments of pain to the surface.

''We stopped after that,'' Danny stated, getting everyone's attention back. ''We stopped caring, we stopped hoping, we stopped ever even thinking about what other delusions could be running through your heads. We were never Fentons, and are so glad to get our real last name back.''

They walked away, just wanting away. But determined for a victory, Maddie went up and took White's arm.

The siren shot his head around, his eyes glowing a menacing gold. Everyone took a step away from him. This Bat Glare just got a whole lot more dangerous, who would have thought that could ever happen.

''Move the hand or lose the hand,'' he growled. ''And when it comes to those who dare touch me, it never ends pleasantly.''
