I was getting tired of eating crayfish every day, but at least it was less money being spent on food. It seamed no mater how many crayfish were consumed their quantity still stayed the same. They still flooded into town, and the demand for them was still high. The amount of mushrooms in town was decreasing, but the number of them still got greater on the outskirts of town. Over time people stopped spraying as much vinegar for it was no longer needed. Beth started spending a lot of her day messing with the mushrooms. She stopped killing them, and would even get mad if she saw someone kill them. She would say they don't appreciate their beauty. She would keep them in jars full of dirt, and spend hours staring at them. She experimented with them, and found out ways to make them grow bigger. Her obsession with the mushrooms was worrying me, but I felt no need to do any thing about it.
I was at the swamp with Alizarin when we noticed a man in the distance. He was looking around on the ground, and occasionally he would bend down to pick something up. "Let's go see who he is." I suggested. "Okay if you insist." Replied Alizarin. We walked over to the man, and found him throwing mushrooms and crayfish into a bucket. "Well hello their." Said the man I'm a strange accent. "Hello, where are you from? I have never seen you around town." I asked. Alizarin said nothing, and the man payed no attention to him. "I am chef Mason, and I am from France . I travel the world looking for new ingredients to cook with. I herd of new species of mushrooms being found here, so I got here as soon as I can. I was also delighted to learn that Amaranth is home to a unique subspecies of crayfish." Explained chef Mason. "You are planing on eating the mushrooms?" I asked shocked. "Why of course, these mushrooms are foreign delicacy to me. With my cooking skills I can make a delightful meal out of the mushrooms." Continued chef Mason. "Id love to try some of your cooking. Do you think their is anyways I could try some?" I asked. "How about gather mushrooms for me. Deliver them to the Jackson's house hold. I am paying the family to stay their and use their kitchen. Bring me mushrooms every day for a week, and I'll prepare you a extraordinary meal." Suggested chef Mason. "Sounds like deal." I replied as I extend my hand. "Excellent." Says chef Mason as he shakes my hand. "I'll be on my way now." Said chef Madison before leaving. "Good bye." I said in unison with Alizarin. "I think I'm going to go too." I told Alizarin. "I was thinking of going home as well. Goodbye, good luck with your little mission." He told me at last before walking off.
As I was walking home I picked mushrooms for chef Mason. I noticed that Miss Rubys yard was a jungle of mushrooms. I wanted to pick some, but I thought it would be best if I asked her first. I went up to her porch and knocked on the door, but as my fist hit the door it creaked open. It was open and unlocked. "Miss Ruby?" I called for her. "No no no!" I herd her scream. "Miss Ruby?! Are you okay?!" I asked as I ran to her aid. I ran through a door, and found a bald miss Ruby staring at a set of wigs. Red mushrooms were sprouting from the wigs, and she was wrapped in a towel. She turned around, and what's shocked to find me. She shrieked and dropped her towel. I immediately regret coming in, for I found out a nasty secret I was not ready to know. The person who lived near the stone path was not a miss but a mister. "You pest!" Screamed mister Ruby. I screamed and quickly ran out of his house. The image of a naked old man was glued to my eyelids. The entire time running home all I could think of was a nude mister Ruby. When I got home I dared not to tell any one about my traumatizing experience.
