I hadn't even noticed that it was already morning and my half siblings were starting to stir. I got up shakily and made my way to the bathroom, washing my face. Just a dream. Just a dream. Just a dream, I told myself over and over. But what if it wasn't a dream? What if that's what's going to happen
the future? No, I told myself. I won't let that happen in the future. Not on my watch.
While I was in deep thought, I didn't even notice that I got myself cleaned up and ready for today, my Camp Half-Blood t-shirt on. I walked out of the bathroom and began thinking again. It won't happen. I'll make sure Narissa's safe. Narissa. . . Narissa! I had to check if she was ok. I rushed out the door and ran to the Kristina Cabin, practically banging on their door.
"Narissa!" I called out. "Narissa!!" I shouted louder, banging harder. Finally, she answered the door. Narissa looked very tiered. Wonder why.
"Xavier?" she asked, rubbing her eyes. "What are you doing here? It's like 6 in the morning. We have quite a while before breakfast." Oh, that's why she's sleepy. I blushed.
"Sorry, I just wanted to see if you were alright," I said awkwardly. Narissa laughed a bit.
"Why wouldn't I be alright?" she asked. I felt my ears burn. Gods, I hated it when I got embarrassed. My ears always turned red.
"Uh umm." I started stuttering. Narissa eyed me.
"Um, I'll go get changed and we can go for a walk around Camp before breakfast if you'd like." I nodded and smiled, my ears burning more.
"Oh, yeah. Sure," I tried saying, but due to my stuttering, it probably came out as 'Ohyeaaaashuuu." She nodded and slowly closed the door. Right when it shut, I face-palmed myself. Smooth, Xavier. Smooth.
I sat at the steps of my cabin, waiting for Narissa. I began picking at the flowers, absent minded. A Demeter girl came out of her cabin and spotted me picking at the flowers. She groaned.
"I just planted those yesterday!" she whined. I stopped and set the flower down.
"Sorry," I mumbled. Narissa finally came out of her cabin. She wore her Camp Half-Blood t-shirt and dark denim shorts with black high tops. Her hair was neatly tied down her right shoulder. I don't know how you can make a Camp Half-Blood t-shirt look good, but Narissa was able to pull it off.
"Let's go." She began walking towards the forest. Narissa turned around. "Coming?" she asked. I noticed that I was staring at her and quickly nodded, getting up and following Narissa.
We wandered into the forest, despite the fact that there were probably a bunch of monsters waiting for us. Narissa seemed intrigued by the nature around. We got to a clearing where a pile of boulders lay randomly. If you got a good look at the pile, it looked like Zues's Fist. Although, from another angle it seemed to be a pile of Pegasus droppings. Narissa climbed to the top and sat down, leaning back. I followed. We lay there in silence for what seemed like millennium, but it was peaceful. I was already starting to fall asleep, but Narissa spoke up.
"Xavier?" she asked, rolling to her side to look at me. I stared back at her.
"Hmm?"
"Do you miss home?" Narissa asked. I thought for a moment. We've only been here for a day. But now that I'm thinking of it, I do kind of miss home. I looked back at her.
"Yeah. Now that I think of it, I do miss home. What about you?" I asked. I felt her nod. Only then did I notice how close we were. Narissa was literally laying down on my shoulder, almost laying her whole body on me. I smiled slightly. I like this position.
"I miss my dad," Narissa whispered, snuggling her head into my neck.
"I miss my mom," I said quietly.
"We get to see them again, right?" Narissa asked. I didn't know what to say. I wanted to say yes, but I didn't want to get her hopes up, only for them to later be broken. I sighed.
"I don't know," I answered. Narissa looked up at me with her dazzling blue eyes. I've noticed that they change color based on her emotions. They changed blue when she was sad. What? I'm observant. I pushed back a strand of her gorgeous hair behind her ear. Narissa and I locked eyes. Before I knew it, we were leaning in. Inches, centimeters, millimeters. So close. . . Suddenly, the conch sounded, calling everyone for breakfast. Narissa and I jumped back with a start. I chuckled nervously. "That was-"
"Startling," finished Narissa. I nodded. Narissa and I once again locked eyes. She blushed furiously. I briefly made a plan in my mind. This is my chance to win her over. She can be mine, right now. All I have to do is. . . I got up and helped her down the boulders. Holding Narissa by her waist, I helped her slide down. Narissa ended up in my arms. I took that chance. I pecked her quickly on the lips and began to run.
"See you at the mess hall," I called back. I left her there, surprised. Even in that brief contact, I felt the sparks fly. I couldn't help but smile at how good that felt. She'll be mine.
