---Chapter 5---
Narissa's Pov
I laid in bed, a mixture of confusion and happiness inside me. Happiness because of an amazing day at a magical camp, Alex's rose and song, and Xaver's kiss. I touched my cheek, right on the spot he kissed me. I smiled slightly. Then I felt the confusion build up. Alex sang me a song and gave me a red rose. I still remembered what my friend in 4th grade, Olivia, said. Olivia told me that dark red roses means unconscious beauty. She also said that red roses symbolize sincere love, respect, courage, and passion, and a single rose means. . . love.
I sat up in shock. Alex's rose was dark red and it was a single rose. Wait, that's impossible! I-I thought-I thought that he didn't-but-what?! I slumped back into bed. Why does Alex have to like me now when Xavier's here?! My thoughts drifted to Xavier. He kissed my cheek. I smiled a bit at how happy he seemed. As if Xavier. . . No. He doesn't like you. No-just-well, he mi- no he doesn't-well, he did kiss- ugh, never mind! My mind was jumbled up into a big, messy pile. I couldn't think straight. I can't like Alex, no, not anymore! I thought that the crush I developed was gone! And now I have a crush on Xavier! I can't like two people at the same time, it's not right! I shut my eyes tightly and slammed my pillow to my head. I drifted off to sleep, thinking only of Xavier and Alex.
----------Narissa's Dream-----------
I was in a green meadow, flowers surrounding me, butterflies in the air, complete peace. I laid down on the grass, feeling the earth below me. I heard footsteps and my head shot up. Hovering over me stood Alex, holding another red rose. He smiled and, without a word, sat down and took my hand into his. I felt the warmth of them in mine, causing me to smile. Alex gave me the rose and brushed my brown hair behind my ear. No one talked. We just stared into each other's eyes. Alex used his free hand and caressed my face. Leaning in, I felt his soft lips against mine. Many emotions hit me all at once. Happiness, joy, excitement, cheerfulness, and many other things. The other emotions that I felt were confusion, and a hint of guilt. I was confused because I thought that Alex thought of me as a friend and I felt a bit guilty because, even though we aren't actually together or anything, I felt like I was somehow cheating on Xavier. I have a crush on Xavier, and I'm kissing my ex-crush. I pulled away, confusion washed over me. Alex looked at me, disappointed.
"What's wrong?" he asked. I shook my head.
"N-Nothing. I'm fine," I said, getting up. Alex stood up as well, still confused.
"I can tell when there's something wrong; I've known you for eleven years, haven't I?" said Alex, putting an arm around my waist, pulling me closer. I giggled a bit. I liked having Alex around, making me smile no matter how bad the situation. I rested my hands on his shoulders.
"Okay fine, there is something wrong," I said, rolling my eyes, causing Alex to chuckle. "It's just-you and me-I thought you didn't-I thought that I was over y-I-um-you-" I couldn't talk straight. I was too confused. Alex looked even more confused, and he thought for a bit.
"You thought that I didn't like you that way. You thought you were over me. And, yes, I know what you were going to say," said Alex, smirking. I felt my cheeks grow hot. Alex was about to plant another kiss on me, but the scene evaporated into darkness.
----------Back to Reality----------
I woke up, still confused. How can Alex-how could we be-it's not possible that-or could it? It felt as if my mind were about to explode, so I got up and went into the bathroom. Instead, I walked towards the door, half sleepy and confused and half unaware of where I was going. I ended up in a cabin. Bows and arrows on the wall. Instantly, I recognized it. Apollo cabin. I walked around the room of sleeping people, afraid to wake them up, even though this is just a dream. I saw Xavier sound asleep, his sandy colored hair ruffled up against his pillow. He looked cute like that. I sat down on the side of his bed and brush his hair out of his face. Xavier moved a bit, but didn't open his eyes. I chuckled a bit at the thought that struck me.
