"Hang in there, love, I'm trying to get Cadence to find a hospital." His brown hair was brushed out of his face, and he could see the radiant aura coming off his boyfriend.
"Babe, I've been shot." He laughed, and then cringed in pain at his situation. Rocky just shook his head, and continued brushing his hair back. He pulled out his phone, and saw that the nearest hospitals were on the rival part of town. Swearing, Rocky called up his emergency transportation and called one in a different state.
"We're going to Rhode Island, aren't you excited, Deliand?" Rocky was trying to keep a calm facade, but was failing miserably. His neon blue skin was littered with red tear marks, and Deliand reached a hand up to wipe them away.
"You can't get rid of me that easy, remember, humans are a parasite; can't flush me out." Laughing, Rocky ran a hand through his dark hair, and heard the helicopter on the roof.
"Good, I swear to heaven if you die on me I'll go back to Hell and drag your sorry ass back." He lifted his partner, and Deliand closed his eyes. It was the last thing he saw, his partner shapeshifting back to human to head to the hospital. Rocky, on the other hand, made his way up the stairs to the roof, being met by his pilot.
"To Rhode Island Hospital sir?" Nodding with a hard stare, Rocky gently made it into the aircraft. He closed his eyes during take off, counting the pulse of the unconscious man in his lap. It was a steady heartbeat, and he was silently grateful for it. He cradled Deliand against his chest, not caring if his suit was now covered in blood.
"I'll find who did this to you, and make them suffer more than any creature ever has." The promise wasn't empty, like most peoples. Humming softly over the choppers whirring, he hummed their song. It was the song that they had both decided would be their first dance. Now, all they had to do was survive long enough to get to that point.
"Sir, we're there, I have your private sector prepared." Rocky nodded, and spotted the team of doctors ready. He was close friends with the head one, so it wasn't much of an issue to get a private team and floor. It also helped that he had more money than Deliand could fathom; his words.
"What the Hell happened to him?" Phoenix walked up and swung the door open. The rest of the team rushed forward, loading the limp body onto a gurney. Rocky held on for a moment, but released his loved one, knowing he would be saved.
"He was shot, that's all I know, save my light, Phe, please." Nodding the doctor rushed off, and Rocky lagged behind on the roof. Soon, it was silent, no helicopter, no doctors, no life besides himself. Shutting his eyes, Rocky fell to his knees, and put his hands on the roof. He yelled then, the sound echoing off the dark area. He had stopped trying to hide his human form, his aura being too powerful to keep that up for long; especially under extreme circumstances. He was glowing red, his neon blue skin earning a purple tint.
"I'm never going to forgive the person who did this, assigned this, and anyone who knew. I am Xechiles son of Dhanndis, and I swear on the high priests that the humans responsible for this will die at the hands of our people." The sky imploded with a blue light, going across the sky in a circular wave that would enclose the globe until the deed is done. He had sworn to the leaders of his race, and now he had a task to fulfill. He fell back on his hands and knees, and quickly scanned the hospital.
"We'll save him, Rocky." The voice came from the surgery room, and the mortal souls were confused. Phoenix, a Celestial, had a buring white dwarf in his soul, and Deliand had a soul that was half human half not. He smiled softly when he got a small wave from his partner, his soul detached from his body in the moment of weakness that is occuring.
"Deli, how did this happen? Who did this to you?" The soul was getting stronger, and Phoenix nodded to ensure this would be safe. Pushing himself to the roof, Deliand's soul was floating in front of Rocky, and he gave him a hug.
"It's okay, darling, I was attacked at home. It was Prince, the assassin, sent as a warning from Jester." Rocky clenched his fists, his dark eyes going aflame. Deliand sighed, and shook his head affectionately. He put a hand on the others cheek, and lifted the face up to look at him. He kissed his forehead, and pressed their heads together.
"Did you do the stupid vow?" Rocky nodded, and all Deliand could do was smile, wrapping his thin arms around the alien's neck.
"Okay, Silly, I have to go now, but you'll see me again soon." The soul slowly disappeared and Rocky looked up to see the empty rooftop. He smiled, feeling a bit better knowing Deliand would be okay, as well as his target. He walked down the stairwell to the fifth floor, and was met with a distraught looking Phoenix. He sighed lightly, and the two embraced like the old friends they were.
"He's in an induced coma for the next few days to heal, but you'll be able to take him home soon enough." Rocky held the doctor at arm's length, thanking him and going to the room where his partner was held. Thanks to technology nowadays, surgery was easier and faster, including higher success rates.
Seeing his partner made his heart clench, he was hooked to several machines and monitors, but he was alive. Rocky walked over to the bed, sitting on the lone chair next to it. He knew Deliand had no family, and Rocky was all he had. He grabbed the pale hand, holding it in his tan one. He kissed it gently, and leaned back in his chair.
"I never thought date night would turn out like this, huh?" Rocky chuckled and stood up to pace.
"Remember you going full on psychologist on me when you yelled that pacing is a bad habit. Then I told you I also count my steps and you had a seizure?" He stood in front of the bed, getting no reaction, but he continued to ramble anyways. He didn't know how long it went on for, but soon the sun was high in the sky, the heat coming into the room.
"I think the other gang will get mad if I go off radar, but I don't mind, nor do you. We get quality time together." Rocky had moved to floating at that point, a type of mediation for his race.
"I remember the first time you caught me doing this in order to get my energy back. I swear that it's real and safe, even if you don't see it that way. You nearly dropped our tacos on that Tuesday night." With his energy replenished, Rocky sat back down next to the bed to observe his one and only. While doing so, he was interrupted by Doctor Phoenix walking in. He smiled, but held up a cell to show the mass news.
"Better head back to New York, Jester wants to meet with you. Apparently Prince got hurt and now he's mad." Rocky just scoffed at this, his human form showing disgust in the purest form it could be in.
"He deserves it, the asshole, he nearly killed Deliand." Rocky stood, however, and shot a texted to his pilot. He looked down at Deliand's sleeping form, and gently kissed his forehead.
"I love you, dear." He pauses and turns to the doctor leaning on the door frame. "If anything changes, at all, alert me. I have some business to take care of." Nodding, Phoenix walked Rocky to the roof, and wished him a safe journey. He leaned back against the seat after takeoff, and took what humans call a 'nap'.
"Sir, I'm putting you in the meeting spot, is that alright?" Rocky nodded, and soon they were landing in the empty street. Well, empty except for the leader of the SIN gang, Jester. He steps out of the helicopter, and alerts his pilot to do a few rounds of patrol.
"Look who finally chose to show his face." Jester sneered, and Rocky just walked up to him. He sighed, crossing his arms and nodding.
"Okay douchebag, let's call off this meeting right now, because no matter how angry you are; I can bet you I'm worse. Now whatever happened to Prince is unfortunate, but you planned to murder my life partner, and that's a huge no. Now, I know that you have a fiance, and if anything ever happened to them, it would devastate you. That's me right now. I was planning on proposing to him that night, and you went and screwed up my glorious plan. Now, I made a deal with my rulers that I would exterminate you, but if you chill while Deliand is in the hospital; you can spend more time together." With a deep breath, Rocky watched Jester purse his lips together.
"Deal, now, go back to him." Jester nodded firmly, and watched the other go off in the chopper. He sighed, rubbing his temples, and turned to Prince. He smiled, and he walked over to him.
"You heard the man, let's have some fun."
