Occupation: Writer for an independent magazine for music, emerging author
Personality: Kenya's personality is that of a perfectionist, where everything should be in its place and go according to plan. As the eldest daughter of Senegalese immigrants, Kenya is seen as the 'responsible' child growing up, believing all good things will happen to those who follow the 'rules'. The rules include getting good grades in school, staying out the streets, believing in God and date only to marry.
Well she's followed this path and yet attends a weekly support group for depression and anxiety. Describing feelings of having been 'cheated' for doing the 'right' things and still not happy, Kenya writes in her journal, from wanting to feel free to coping with loneliness after the break-up from her ex Andre who gets engaged to another woman 3 months later. She also writes about exploring her sexuality and developing a deep connection with an unexpected partner, Rob Pilatus.
Initially, Kenya and Rob do not hit it off. While she thinks he's doesn't take anything seriously, he thinks she takes everything too seriously. Eventually they find both of them have more in common than they imagine and get closer together one move at a time.
