The rosette was bored, and the only thing that seemed to interest him was the lightning. How it was white and somewhat purple and blue. It looked cool. But, something else caught his eye. Something more interesting. So interesting, that Natsu jumped up from his seat and even hung up on his best friend.
The rosette ran to his front door, unlocking it and turning the knob. The wind pushed it open and so much rain came through the door. Natsu didn't even care, for he ran outside and left the door wide open. Natsu was practically soaked when he reached the end of his driveway. His arms where covering his face from the rain, but he soon gave up and just ran.
The wind pushed him around, but he forced himself to keep moving forward. Natsu honestly didn't know how his house was still standing.
"Hey! You there!" Natsu called to a figure, who was walking in the storm. The guy only wore a t-shirt and shorts. He was so drenched that you could almost see through his all-black shirt! The guy looked at Natsu with worried eyes, and Natsu suddenly felt heroic. "Come inside! You can wait out the storm there!" Natsu couldn't even hear himself through the wind. He only saw the guy nod, some of the water fly out from his dark blue hair. Natsu grabbed his arm, and together they pushed through the wind, up Natsu's driveway, and into the house.
The door was hard to close. It took the both of them to shut it. Half of the hardwood floor was covered in water that seeped into the carpet. Natsu could care less. All he wanted was to get some blankets and towels, two new sets of clothes, and the fireplace started.
After a while, the two boys sat in the family room staring at the fire in front of them. Both had a new set of clothes, and the guy Natsu brought in surprisingly wore clothes in his size. The rosette took a sip of his hot chocolate, shivering as he felt the cold water run through his scalp. The other guy seemed to be in the same situation.
Natsu's phone has been buzzing for almost thirty minutes, but he refused to answer or even look at it. He assumed it was Lucy wanting to know why he hung up without notice. The rosette could care less. He just saved a guy from the storm, who gratefully accepted his invite inside . . .
But what if he was a killer who already planned to target Natsu by walking outside his house just for the rosette to invite him inside? Natsu took a side glance at the guy, who stared into his cup of hot chocolate. He didn't look like the type to kill anyone with the way he looked at the moment, but you never know.
"So . . . What's your name?" Natsu asked suddenly, making the guy look his way. He then focused his eyes back on his hot chocolate and took a quick sip.
"Gray."
Natsu nodded. "I'm Natsu Dragneel." And the two shook hands. Pretty late, but the introduction was now over with, and a small amount of the awkwardness was gone. Natsu took another sip of his hot chocolate when his phone began to buzz again. The rosette grew annoyed and looked at his screen, only to see that he now had twenty-three missed calls from his older brother. He gulped and called him back, only to hear loud yelling from the other side.
Gray looked at the rosette with wide eyes, then looked back to the fire when Natsu started talking.
"Okay, listen to me Zeref. I thought you were Lucy."
"Well you could've looked at the screen instead of assuming who I was!" Zeref shouted over the phone. Natsu didn't even have it on speaker. His brother was so loud that it echoed in the room the two boys were sitting in.
"I'm sorry, Zeref," Natsu sighed, rubbing his forehead. The other end went quiet before Zeref spoke, "I forgive you, brother."
"So why aren't you here yet?" Natsu was back to his curious self. He was rocking back and forth in his spot, water dripping onto the floor from each lower spike in his hair.
"Because my boss said no one could leave until the storm was over. It's pretty bad out there," Zeref replied. Gray took a towel on his head and started to dry his hair with it, frantically rubbing it against his head.
"Well . . . when will you be home?"
"I just told you when the storm passes!"
Natsu flinched, but nodded. "Okay."
Zeref hung up after a while. Natsu got up when he was pretty dry to move to another room, Gray following behind him.
The rosette wanted to see what the weather was going to be like for the rest of the night, since it has been going on for almost an hour and a half. The television clicked when Natsu turned it on.
Natsu frantically laughed as he flipped through each channel. Gray, who sat on the other side of the couch, tried not to burst out laughing at the rosette. Natsu assumed that Gray was laughing along with him. When he reached the weather channel, he placed the remote onto the coffee table and leaned back to see what was happening.
"The storm may go on for the rest of the night and throughout the morning, ending around one to one thirty, where it will then just rain. It would be best to stay on the lowest level of your house tonight . . ."
Natsu turned the TV off, stretching his arms. He only wanted to know how long it would last. So Zeref may get home at one tomorrow. No big deal!
Natsu smiled at Gray, then looked at his phone to check the time. It was almost nine, which shocked Natsu, since it had been dark for who knows how long. Natsu unlocked his phone, turning on the dial screen and tossing the phone at Gray. "We can sleep in here tonight. I'll get some blankets while you call your family." Gray nodded as Natsu hopped up the stairs.
Natsu opened the closet that was across the bathroom, grabbing four large blankets—two to lay on the floor and two for both him and Gray. Natsu folded them quickly, stacking them on top of one another. He then ran into his room and grabbed two pillows from off his bed.
Natsu was carefully carrying the pillows and blankets down the stairs. Gray, who was sitting on the couch, got up and raced to the stairs to help Natsu. He grabbed the pillows before the rosette could fall. Natsu was thankful that he could see where he was going.
The two boys laid the blankets across the floor, putting the pillows on where they wanted to sleep. They each then grabbed a blanket to cover themselves. Natsu went to turn off the light, feeling around where his spot was. He crawled underneath his blanket, staring into complete darkness. He didn't feel like sleeping, and he watched as lighting struck, lighting up the room. Thunder began to roll in, shaking the entire house.
"Hey, Natsu?" Gray said, feeling he didn't have to whisper since they were the only ones in the house.
"Yeah?"
"Thanks for letting me stay. I really appreciate it." Natsu smiled, and turned over to face the stranger. He couldn't see him, but the rosette knew Gray was facing him, too.
"It's not a problem. But why were you out in the rain anyways?" Gray shifted to where he sat up and looked out the window. His face could be seen by Natsu when light from lightning lit up the room.
"I was just taking a walk when the rain hit. Then it got worse. I didn't bring my phone and I just decided to walk home." Natsu nodded. Gray laid back down, staring at the ceiling, when his eyes closed. Silent snores came from next to Natsu, and soon, the rosette fell asleep.
And the thunder and lightning continued to go on as the two teens slept.
