There are times where mother nature will follow us humans, whether it be about the upbringing of plants or about the weather. And today was no exception.

Royce lived in a small fishing town off of the coast of Florida. The town of Snap Turtle only had a population of 300. Most people who live there were fishermen or small shop owners. Although Snap Turtle was becoming a little more populated due to the rumors of mermaids in the warm summer waters. A majority of the natives didn't believe, except the old-timers who had been living there before it was even put on a map.

It was a warm and sunny day, but was only 2:05 PM. Royce planned to go out on the water for a bit and try to catch some redfish. He was loading his boat into the water carefully, when he saw one of the old-timers loading his boat up. It was odd, since he had usually stayed until six. Royce got out of his truck, walking over to Billy, a 79-year-old who had served in the war and come back to the small town. His wrinkled face lit up when he saw the 25-year-old who was Royce.

"Hey there Billy, what's got you spent out of the water?" He said to Billy, crossing his arms. Billy smile disappeared as his faded green eyes overlook the calm sea. "Got a bad feelin'... are ya headed out today, son?" Billy asked. Royce nodded, replying "yes, but only for a few hours. Well I'd better head out. Get home safe." He said while pointing a playful finger at the veteran. Billy chuckled, pulling this truck and boat up and away from the docks.

After a good five minutes, Royce was on the water Breathing in the smell of salt in the air. Speeding his boat Northwest, Royce was headed to his fishing spot. He placed a baseball cap over his curly brown hair to keep his head and neck from sunburned. He decided to shake off the weird electricity in the atmosphere. 10 miles away, he dropped his anchor. He strung and swung his line out. Royce leaned back into his seat

Over the course of an hour and a half, Royce had seen redfish and even a small school. His brown eyes were staring Over the hypnotizing waves, His tongue lightly twisting his lip ring, a habit he had for a few years.

A loud crash of thunder snapped himself out of his trance. He jerked, quickly looking up at the darkening sky. A massive storm has moved so quickly, it was otherworldly. Royce immediately started to pack up his fishing pole, but just flung it into a compartment when he felt the waves rocking the boat violently. Gearing his boat to a quick speed, he was trying to get out to the docks as fast as he could. The size of the storm would not be safe.

Roye felt nervous, and his heart nearly burst when he heard a deafening screech. It wasn't the booming thunder, it was something else. He was about 3 miles to the docks. He tried to speed faster, the obvious speeding ticket  forgotten. The screeches he heard we're getting closer, and he was constantly checking behind him. Royce didn't notice the rock he was about to hit.

The speeding boat hit the boulder at an alarming force, sending Royce 50 feet forward, smacking the water hard enough to cause him to nearly get knocked unconscious. The boat was broken into pieces, the motor smoking and sinking. Disoriented and barely conscious, Roye tried to swim the last mile to the shore. The waves made it hard to swim, trying to drag him further out. Royce was thankful for for the four years of swim team his parents had force him to do. Until he felt a hand grab onto was leg, dragging his body down into the dark water.

Royces' eyes stung in the salt water, trying to get back above the water. The being committed to drag his body down when he finally got here. His lungs feel like they're burning. His green eyes tried To look around, and saw a dark tail swimming into the dark to conceal itself. The strange figure as a human with a tail emerged into sight. Royce nearly choked on water when he saw the dark looking female. His ears were picking up the sound of a mumble talking. Slowly, the creature came close, her black eyes searing into his. Royce could feel his mind getting fuzzy, and his body was syncing with exhaustion. The words were repeating in his mind as the creature got closer to him.

"Stay with me..."
