After, I followed Michael home. I couldn't help it, I felt... bound to him for some reason.

"Mikey," I said softly. "I love you."

I continue to say. He can't hear me, he doesn't answer. He made his way to his basement, and I couldn't stand to watch what he did next.

He walked himself over to our beanbag chairs, and sat down in his usual spot. Taking a shaky breath, he reached over and pretended to take something invisible.

My hand.

"Jeremy." He was shaking, his entire body. "I never... I didn't-" he inhaled shakily.

I could feel myself grow guilty. I did this.

"I never told you." He hiccuped, bringing his hands to his face to hide. "How much I needed you. I'm sorry."

I looked away from the crying tan boy. "My Mikey." I said softly.

I walked over to him, wrapping my arm around his shoulders like I would just a couple days ago...

"Don't cry, sweet boy."

He tensed up.

"You are my sunshine," I start.

"Stop." He said coldly. I freeze.

Can he hear me?

"Mikey?"

"Stop, Michael."

No.

"You have to stop crying, he wouldn't want you to be like this." He grit his teeth. "You did this to him."

"Michael, please-"

"What kind of heartless bastard kills his boyfriend? The guy who loved you, the guy who would've..." he stopped himself. "The guy who did give his life because of you."

I looked away again. I can't stand this.

Michael hung his head in shame. "And now he's gone and you can't do shit about it. You can't change your actions."

The moment that was supposed to be self-recollection became much darker.

"I love you, Jeremy Heere." He whispered out, into the nothingness.

"I love you too," I whisper back. I lean in to press a kiss to his cheek, but he stands up instead.

Passing through me, he made his way to the bed. He laid himself down in his usual spot, and then, once again, pretended to wrap his arms around nothing.

Me.

I slid myself in to my usual spot, even though he cannot feel it.

Tears soak Michael's pillow as I hear him whisper.

"The other night, dear, As I lay sleeping, I dreamed I held you in my arms..."

"No, Michael, please, it's only-"

"When I awoke, dear, I was mistaken. So I hung my head and I cried..." Soft sobs shake his shoulders.

Tears roll down my face now as well.

"I love you," I choke out. "I love you, I love you, I love you."

He fell asleep sobbing in his own despair.
