In the Kingdom, the Crown Princess has come-of-age to marry, and hundreds of suitors have traveled near and far, from inside and outside of the Kingdom, in order to compete for the Princess's hand.
However, an unexpected travesty occurs when a dragon comes and kidnaps the Crown Princess the day before the competition. The King, in desperation, promises his daughter's hand to the man who rescues the Princess from the Dragon and slays it, and brings its head and skin as proof, along with the Princess's safe return.
But unbeknownst to them, this was not like the dragons of Ages Past: This Dragon was the Kingdom's Guardian and for countless generations has been the ancestral protector to the Princesses of the royal bloodline. It swore to the first sire of the Kingdom's dynasty to always come whenever a royal daughter was of-age to marry, and kidnap her to its impassible lair as a test for the suitors who took up the challenge. And whoever passed the test that the Dragon chose would be given the Princess's hand as his reward. This scheme was an insurance policy for the bloodline against those who would use the Princess as a pawn to fulfill their own dark ambitions and overthrow their rule.
