Kat could feel it the moment he stepped into the room without even having to look at him. Her body tensed with each of her senses acutely aware of the energy shift that just occurred. It took every ounce of strength she had to plaster a carefree smile on her face, but when she turned to look at him their eyes locked.
Dylan Reed.
Just thinking his name sent shivers down her spine. Time stood still, and it was as if they were decades younger. He was taller now. A little more buff in the shoulders, but his eyes still revealed him as the same awkwardly quiet kid who built sandcastles at the beach with Kat and promptly destroyed them to make her angry. They were inseparable. Two peas in a pod. Dyl and Kat, Kat and Dyl. However, things were different. They were not the same carefree kids having water balloon fights on their joint family vacations all those summers ago. It had been 5 years since they were even in the same room, and it was clear by the look in those icy blue eyes that time had changed everything.
