I tugged at the uncomfortable black dress that Sarah had forced me to wear. Between this dress and the heels, I was positive I would make a fool of myself tonight. Sarah was busy brushing back her long, blonde hair into a tight ponytail, and I was busy thinking of how I was going to leave this party  early.

I laid my hand on the top of my head, hoping to ease the bruising feeling of the tight ponytail against my scalp. I was so uncomfortable, I was sure that tonight would be filled with pain.

"It's time!" Sarahs loud squel penatrated my ears and I winced. "Do we have to go? We could stay here and watch Netflix! Or we could-" I pleaded, but Sarah inturrupted me with a loud "Nope!" and tugged on my arm.

I stumbled in my heels, and struggled to keep up with her as she dragged us out the door and into the car. Pulling out of the driveway, I said a silent prayer to get me through the night.

I didn't like parties. I didn't like the loud music, or the drunk teenagers. The stupid games of Spin the Bottle or Truth or Dare. I would much rather sit down and relax at home with a nice book and some hot chocolate. But no, I had to spend my Friday night stuck in a house with a bunch hormonal teenagers.

Sarah switched on the radio as we drove, singing along. I couldn't help but laugh at her, and I also couldn't help but sing along. Before I knew it, we were parking on the side of a neighborhood street. It seemed as if a hundred cars were parked near the lively house, which played music and had flashing lights inside.

Sarah and I both got out of the car, heading to the front door. After Sarah knocked, the door swung open to reveal a bulky boy our age. A drunken smile filled his face as he looked at us. "Well, hello ladies. Please come in." He swung his arm back, beckoning us to come in. But he held a red solo cup in his hand, so the alcohol in his cup sloshed out and onto the floor.

I looked inside in disgust but followed Sarah inside anyways. The loud music vibrated throughout the house, and wild lights flashed vibrately around the room. Teenagers danced throughout the house, talking and kissing each other. I scrunched my nose in disgust but headed to the kitchen.

"You guys have any water?" I asked the boy behind the kitchen counter. He gave me a smile before handing me a bottle. The bottle crunched under my hold, and I noticed it was opened. I twisted the cap before putting it on the counter. "Unopened." I sent him a look, and the smile dropped from his face. He handed me a firmer water bottle, indicating it hadn't yet been opened.

I grabbed the opened water bottle and poured it down the sink. I didn't want whatever drug had been in it to be put in the hands of some innocent girl. The boy just scoffed and turned away from me, talking to some drunk girl behind him.

Sarah had already downed some drinks and taken her place on the dance floor. I sighed and took a sip of my water, deciding to go into the backyard. It was much more quiet and empty, since the majority of people stayed inside.

I took a seat by the pool and took off my shoes to dip my feet inside. The cool water felt amazing in the warm night air, and I couldn't help but look at the stars in the sky. As they shone brightly against the black sky, I felt comfortable out here.

I wasn't in party mode, but I didn't mind being in here. If I had been home, I would be alone. Here, with these hundreds of students just feet away, I knew I wasn't alone. I didn't need to be talking to someone to feel like I wasn't alone.

I was tired of feeling alone.
