In 2139, simultaneous terror attacks were carried out around the world. A secret organisation named the 'Sky Templars' sparked rebellions worldwide by releasing incriminating information on multiple world leaders. Governments fell, those countries that remained unfazed were attacked by the Sky Templars. In a last-ditch effort to protect what remained of the global governments, the Conclave was formed. With the combined efforts of the Conclave, the first batch of human biological weapons was created. We managed to push back the Sky Templars. We started winning. We controlled the part of the Middle East and the West while the Sky Templars controlled the East. 15 years have passed, historians now called it the Great War and neither side has made any advancements. But that was about to change.

Elana's POV
"Assessment commencing in 10 seconds." The examiner announced.
Grabbing a set of akimbo pistols, and two knives from the weapon rack, I stepped onto the red circle in the middle of the plain white room. The only other thing asides the red circle was a panel of bulletproof glass on one of the walls.
"Beginning assessment."
Instantly, 5 holographic projections of soldiers appeared. Drawing my pistols, I placed a bullet into each of them with pinpoint accuracy. Without any warning, panels on the floor started to move, forming a maze. On some of the elevated tiles, the charging of plasma rifles could be heard. Snipers. I thought. Scanning the tiles, I managed to identify 3 snipers. Taking aim, I was able to take out 1 of the snipers before being intercepted by 2 more ground simulations. Grabbing the hilt of one of my knives, I ran forward and slit the throat of one and threw the same blade at the second. Hitting it straight in the eye, both of them falling to the ground fragmenting before slowly dissipating. Retrieving my knife, I returned to tracking down the other two targets. It didn't take me long to find one of them, grabbing my pistol, I placed two bullets into the sniper's head.
Alright, just one mo- my train of thought was interrupted by an explosive sting in my right shoulder. From the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of blood spilling from what have been a gunshot wound. It's crimson glow like mini chandelier balls. Gritting my teeth, I pressed against my wound with my left hand as I ran for cover. These projections may not be real people but their weapons are definitely capable of making me meet my maker. Peering around a corner, I tried to locate the final sniper but to no avail. Just then, I was able to make out the faint footsteps of the sniper. It was hopping around from tile to tile and yet it was able to make next to no noise. If my echolocation is as good as I hoped it to be, the sniper should be at least 15 metres away from me. Using your range against me, nice try. Reaching for my pistol with my blood soaked hand, I slowly made my way around the maze. It didn't take me long to find it. Considering it showered me with plasma charges the second it saw me. Ducking back into cover, I searched around me for an alternate way around. However, it turns out that the sniper gave me that alternate way itself. Apparently, all those plasma discharges that were fire overheated the sniper's rifle. Using this tiny window, I rushed from cover and unloaded my entire magazine into the sniper. Needless to say, the sniper didn't stand a chance.
"Assessment complete. Medical units en route. Please remain calm." The examiner concluded the assessment.
Medics clad in their standard white uniforms ran over to me. By now, there was a sizable puddle of blood forming around me. My vision went blurry as I fell onto one of the medics. Their voices were now nothing but discombobulated echoes. My eyes rolled back as darkness slowly enveloped me...
Narrator's POV
From the Observation deck, a hooded man stood, watching the girl as she fell.
"Details on this one." He spoke with his raspy voice.
"Um...the subject's name is Elena Evans, 13 years old. She was part of the 236th Experimental Mechanised Unit." A young researcher read out from his console.
"Not bad. What's her rank amongst all of the EMU units?" The man questioned. The researcher went back to reading his console before turning to the hooded man.
"She is currently Rank 1."
Raising his eyebrows just slightly, the mysterious hooded man turned and left the room.
Elena's POV
I woke up lying in a flat wasteland, a thick fog prevented me from seeing anything one feet in front of me.
"Miss Elena? We need you to make a choice while you're still conscious." A distant voice echoed.
"Who is that?" I shouted.
Walking blindly through the empty land, I tried to find who was speaking. In the distance, I made out a table with someone on it. Various medical machines and surrounded the table with several surgeons in blue suits and medical masks. Jogging over to the surgeons, I was about to ask for help when I realized that they were frozen in time. Looking down at the operating table, my eyes went wide as I realized that the person was me. I was just lying there with my eyes closed.
"Miss Elena, thank you for participating in this project. You have helped not only the Eastern Coalition, but you have also allowed humanity to take a step forward in becoming a more advanced species." The mysterious voice continued.
Stumbling backwards, I tried to make sense of this unsettling situation. Looking around me, I searched aimlessly for any signs of life other than that frozen scene. Is this heaven? Damn this place sucks ass. Just then a silhouette came into view through the thick fog. As the silhouette drew close, a sudden feeling of warmth and comfort enveloped my being. It was as if this person was someone I knew. Judging from the silhouette, I could tell that this was a female. Could this be the voice that was speaking to me earlier?
"Hello, child. You do not need to know who I am. You only need to know that I am a person that means no harm and that we will meet soon." The figure spoke.
It was strikingly similar to the mysterious voice that spoke earlier. It has to be her! I opened my mouth to try to speak but I was unable to speak. As she faded into the mist, she left me with some parting words.
"The world is changing, child, and you will be the one who will either save or destroy the world."
I tried to chase after her but my eyes felt heavy and my legs began to buckle as my vision darkened.
