"Nuh-uh!" Kenji snapped at Ayaka. "Ma says monster aren't real! Monsters aren't real! Monsters aren't-" Aki opened the bathroom door, surprising everyone. He walked into the room with them, eyes glossy and cheeks red from crying.
Nana wrapped him in a hug. "We forgot you were even here!" She said, patting his back. He started whimpering, remembering the mean lady outside the door. But then he saw everyone looking all calm-like, and how there was no more pounding against the door. "Was I tired?" He asked curiously.
"Hm?" Nana asked, confused, pulling away from him. He repeated his question, this time to everyone. They all looked at each other. "What do you mean?" Ayaka asked, confused as to what he meant as well.
Before he could answer, the shattering of glass emmited from somewhere in the house. They all flinched, startled by the sudden noise. "I'll go check it out!" Nana volunteered, not waiting around to get a disapproval from Ayaka.
She dashed down the hallway and entered a room. She stopped and held her breath. She was in a small room with a wooden floor. The room was dark, but was illuminated by the silver streams of moonlight from outside, the full moon vibrant in the dark sky. A pale, little girl's face was staring at her, expressionless. She looked almost solemn, and her hands hung over the windowsill. She seemed to be hanging from the other side of the window. Her eyes were an icy blue, and would be strangely beautiful if it didn't have such a lifeless look to them, and weren't so bloodshot.
"Nana," the girl began in a whisper in a child-like voice, making Nana's blood run cold. "Where...Are....My....Legs...?" Nana shrieked, staggering back and causing everyone to bound after her.
"Nana? What's wrong?!" Ayaka and Naomi ran into the room. The girl in the window yelled, "Where are my legs?!" before jumping into the room. She landed on the floor with a thump, and clutched a scythe in her hands.
The girls screamed and Ayaka pulled her sister out the room before slamming the door behind her. Kenji and Aki stood in the hallway. Aki looked about ready to cry again and Kenji held no emotion, his face expressionless. Ayaka held the door shut as the monster kept attempting to open it. The car! She thought suddenly.
"Naomi! Take Nana and get to the car!" Ayaka demanded, her palms growing sweaty as she held the doorknob. Naomi backed up, grabbing Nana's wrist. "No!" Nana shrieked, jerking away from her. "I'm not leaving without Ayaka!" Boy, she was stubborn.
"Naomi what the Hell are you waiting for?!" Ayaka yelled, the doorknob suddenly beginning to turn slippery under her sweaty palm. "I said GO!" Naomi flinched and grabbed Nana and Aki's hand before darting away. She made it into the living room and let go of their hands before throwing the chairs away from the door.
Kenji still stood in the hallway, his eyes narrowed. Ayaka frowned at him, "What are you waiting for? Christmas?!" She shouted at him, feeling her blood boil. "I'm risking my life for you idiots and you stand there like a retard? Do you want to die? I said move!!" She shouted. She didn't mean for it to come out like that, but they couldn't wait around any longer!
Kenji clenched his hands into a fist, not at all liking being talked to in such a way. "NO!" He exploded. "This is not real! None of this is real! And I'm gonna prove it!" He advanced towards the door, determined to prove that there was nothing standing behind that door.
"What're you doing?!" Ayaka exclaimed, feeling her grip on the doorknob loosen. Was he crazy? "There's nothing in there!" Kenji yelled, reaching out for the doorknob. Ayaka's eyes widened, she had to do something! "Kenji! No!!"
Naomi threw the last of the furniture from being stacked up against the door. She swung open the door, just now hearing the angry yelling coming from the hall. Wait. Where was Kenji?
