"Bloody gears!" Yelled out 15 year old Zylphia. "How many of you are going to fly off!" She cursed at them, leaning down and picking them up.
She was a short girl with waist long brown hair, her height only reached up to 4'10, which was short compared to others her age. Zylphia was born with a birth defect, causing her to have one bright blue eye, and the other was a dark brown eye. That one off eye was the reason her parents left her at the front of a doorstep when she was just six-months old.
She was now living with a man in his late 50's, but he was an amazing role model for her and she looked up to him for everything.
"Easy now, Zylphia, if you're going to be learning you've got to be calm." He told her, giving her a smile. She let out a sigh. "But it's so simple, I can't even build a simple pocket watch!" She told him.
"You're still learning, don't worry." He then took the watch from her, placing it on the table and picking up some tools. "I can finish it from here, you go out into town and-" before he could finish speaking, he started to cough badly. "Mr. Woodlens! Are you alright?" Zylphia quickly asked.
He gave a quick nod and rushed her out the door. "Just go pick up some new gears and metal." He shut the door.
Zylphia crossed her arms, patting down her dress, pulling out a few coins and sighed.
She would walk into town, passing people her age, she had never really been interesting in other children, she just kept to herself.
She heard a loud clanking going past her, she would look up to see a person in black sheets, with a huge mask over their face, they also had a walking stick.
"There goes another one.." A woman behind her said. Zylphia then looked at the woman behind her. "What do you mean by that?" Zylphia asked. "The plague, it's gotten another one," she said, the woman then looked down at the ground. "It got my aunt last week. It was just coughing at first, but then-"
Zylphia had gasped, she shook her head. "I'm sorry, but I've got to go." She told the woman and started to run back towards the house. Zylphia's long brown hair was flying behind her.
By the time she had gotten to the house, there were four men standing around, one came over and bent down. "I'm sorry, but it got him."
