1. Legacy

"Remember son, we owe the Lee Family our lives, it is our duty to serve and protect them. No excuses."

"Dad don't go."

"Remember that son, and always remember that I love you."

"Dad!" Yun Ho woke up drenched in sweat, his hand stretched out in front of him. He was gasping for air.

The dream had been the same for two days now.

When the news that Lee Family's leader, Mr Lee Dong Min had died in an ambush attack broke out, Yun Ho knew that his father definitely did not survive too.

It's a given, knowing the nature of a bodyguard's duty.

Looking up at the ceiling, Yun Ho remembered that it was only a few hours ago that he saw his father's lifeless body on the cold table of the morgue.

Apart from the multiple stab wounds and bullet shots on his chest, the most evident one was the one through his left eye.

He did not go down without a fight.

They brought the bodies home as per normal funeral tradition. Large white wreaths decorated the walkways of the Lee family's mansion.

Deep down Yun Ha had still hoped that this was all just a bad dream.

It was a false hope he cultivated to soothe the realization that he is now truly alone in this world.

The alarm buzzed. It was 5 am.

Yun Ho sprung up from bed and folded his sheets neatly. It was a habit taught by his father. "Discipline in a small thing like this is very important." He would say.

The sun was going to rise soon and he peered at the distant mansion. The bodyguard quarters is just two miles away from it and it was where he had stayed throughout his teenage years up until he was qualified for the job. The peach colored mansion had always been the first thing that he saw whenever he looked out the window. Today, it somehow looked different to him.

After a quick cold shower, Yun Ho changed into his regular black suit and tie before calling Dong Wook.

As usual, it was picked up in just one ring.

"Dong Wook-ah, get the boys ready in 5 for the ceremony."

After hearing 'Ye Hyung' from the other side, Yun Ho clicked the phone shut.

The boys had too, been worried after the sudden attacks and deaths. After all most of them had been with the family for years now, just like Yun Ho. He would have to explain and motivate them later.

But Yun Ho himself was not quite sure whether he is fully out of the shellshocked state yet. He was out drinking with the boys when they found out and was composed enough to immediately send out all of his troops to protect the rest of the Lee family while he personally handled the bodies.

Mafia groups across the nation had a meeting the next day and it was officially announced that the new leader of the Lee family would be Lee Dong Min's only son: Lee Ha Joon.

Yun Ho does not really remember Lee Ha Joon's face. Last he saw him was 15 years ago, when he was around 8 years old. They had played together but the memories were not vivid. Yun Ho's father had told him then that the Lee Family were going to send him off to study in England for his safety.

After that, he had never returned.
