Chapter 21: the tough choices
It had a few days since everything had went down on Valentine's boat and to say that things had been somewhat eventful would be an understatement, one of the biggest developments to come out of it was was that Simon could walk in the daylight due to drinking shadowhunter blood unlike every other vampire in the shadow world which had caused him to be a walking target for all of the vampire who wanted to know his secret. One of the more minor outcomes to out of it was that Piper had been somewhat avoiding Jace and the institute since it happened as the fear induced vision kept replaying itself in her head haunting almost but that did mean that she had plenty of time to spend with Clary since she knew that she had to make more of an effort with her sister since she was the only real family she had left. Piper wore an unusual outfit for her consisting of a black floral skirt, a white tank top, a cream knitted cardigan and a pair of black converse as well as a dark brown vintage looking crossbody bag. She also wore her hair down in gentle waves with two simple long side braids on either side of her head, ashe also wore natural looking brown smoked eye make up with dusty pink coloured lipstick. They currently sat in a coffee shop in Brooklyn like Clary used to do before she found out about all of this secret underground world she was now fully invested in.
" so wait, you're seriously telling me that you haven't seen Jace in days? I mean he's your boyfriend, surely he's tried to calling you" Clary said to Piper as they sat down with their coffees and snacks to talk
" oh he's tried calling and texting and about everything except for smoke messaging me but I don't know what to say to him" Piper said putting her head in hand as she cringed a little at the thought
" and you can't just explain to him that you're slightly messed up from whatever our darling father did to you this time" Clary said knowing that Piper had been thinking about this whole thing a lot lately
" no I can't really keeping using that as an excuse however valid and relevant that it is, anyway I'm not the only one with boy issues right?" She said trying to get off the subject of her and Jace right now
" I have no idea what you're talking about" Clary said playing coy with her as she took a sip from her coffee knowing full well where this conversation was going as she had been trying to avoid it
" oh really? So you don't have feelings for a certain geeky daylight walking vampire that we know?" She said giving her a look since they both knew who she was referring to as she began to laugh
" Simon? I don't know maybe, it's weird I've always kinda known that he likes me but never felt that about him until now" she said knowing that she was going to need to face this sooner rather than later
" you mean until our darling monster of a father decided to kidnap him and a werewolf before bleeding him dry? Yeah near death experiences tend to make us realise things" she said thinking of her own realisation
