Before I could even processed what just happened, the hall was finally opened and me and Hideri went in to find our seats. Hideri was very excited as we got to our seats. He was shaking his legs and grinning uncontrollably, like a small kid getting his first Christmas present. Hideri has to chill. They are not even the first performers, I whispered to my heart. The piece they are playing today is as Violet said; timeless classic. It starts out slow paced, with serious and stern notes. While I was listening to it, I felt like writing a classical poem to the mayor of the town about justice. Ever since I started to hang out with them, I started to listen to more and more piano and violin transcriptions, as I would listen to the original transcription of the songs that Violet and Miu played. As it got to the chorus, it started gaining it's pace going faster and more combination begin to spur between the violinist and the pianist. The audiences are in awe by each performance as each performers made the transcription their own, rather their own version of the transcription.
As time rolled, it got more and more closer to Violet and Miu turns, everyone was starting to get fed up with the same notes repeating after a few rounds. Alas, the emcee of the competition announced the arrival of the Twin Asteroids. I couldn't wait for them to start playing. I saw Violet gave a small nod to Miu and she draw her bow across the strings of the violin. The first note rang loud across the hall, drawing the attention of the audiences. This feels different. Why did she start it out so loud? The previous ones started it out softly, gradually increasing the intensity of the song. The audience starts to get to the edge of their seat as they felt the immense difference of the introduction of the transcription. The song continued loudly, but with such slow pace, it felt like I was going to war not with my body, but with my mind. The notes started to go louder and higher until it reaches a pinnacle point, and it stops. After a few seconds of silence, they continued next part of the transcription, soft and slow, only allowing a few notes to be slipped out loud, as if they are drawing fire across the face of a tiger, prancing around it , trying to get it's attention.
I blinked a few times, trying to gain back consciousness , and looked around the hall. Everyone was so intrigued by the way Miu draws her bow and the way Violet touches the piano. It was really weird seeing people watching the performance. Everyone has their emotion shown on their face as the performance goes on. Some were waiting to hear how they could change the next part of the song, some were just plainly absorbed into the music their expression changes along with the notes of the song, and others were judging their way of transcribing the song, whether it could still be called the same name or not. I could see Hideri just, listening. He was really into the song, trying to hold on to every note that was playedby Violet. Wow. He really is in love with Violet, isn't he?, I thought to myself. Alas , all good things must come to an end. After the performance, we met up back with them.
"IT WAS AMAZING, VIOLET. YOUR HANDS WERE LIKE THIS, THEN YOU LOOKED AT MIU AND SHE DID THIS THING. YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING!" Hideri squealed telling Violet when she asked how was the performance.
"You said it twice, you dumbass. We get it. Me and Violet are amazing. The Twin Asteroids are phenomenal!" exclaimed Miu.
Violet and Miu started posing like a dynamic duo for a few minutes for Hideri to take picture of them. We talked about the performance and how good it was. Violet just smiled and nodded while Miu tried to soak in all this great compliments. After 20 minutes, the results were out. All the performers rushed to check their placings, and after a few seconds of fiasco Miu and Violet finally got to check their placings. They managed to get second place. They lost to the two males, who are known for winning this particular competition. " We knew from the start we couldn't beat them. Also us winning second place was already considered good," Violet said. Both of them were unfazed by their defeat. Miu just shrugged and asked where are we going to get dinner.
We walked to a cafe nearby to eat dinner. We ate while planning our study session,as exams were getting closer and closer. Also, I practically learnt nothing while I was busy sleeping in class for the past 6 months. But recently, with the help of my friends, I tried to catch up with my studies. " Hey, if you don't score well for you IGCSE, your mom will come for my head,"Hideri said. Once we were done eating, it was already 7.45pm. We walked the girls to their intersection before we parted ways. Hideri and Violet hugged and said some cheesy things to each other.
" Hey, about this afternoon, uhm, do you still want that hug?" I squeaked to Miu as she stood by me. She blushed and caught my eye staring at her. As the sun sets, what remains of the light ray shine on Miu face. I can see her whole face getting red while she push her hair behind her hears. Her pink hair looks a little bleached as the sun light shines on it. Wow. She's ... I've never seen her like this. She then look down at her knees and muttered something.
"Fine, since you asked,"
She came and hugged me for a brief moment and said goodbye. I just stood there, dumbfounded by what just happened.
What was that?
As I was walking home with Hideri, he keep looking at me grinning. After a while, it got creepy. "What are you grinning at? I don't look like Violet at all. Not one bit," I said. " We all saw what happened there, you lucky man. Who'd think Miu out of all people would like you? I mean, she always tease you," Hideri said. " I don't know. She was the one who asked me first. I thought she felt sad because she didn't win the competition," I tried explaining myself but to no avail. Hideri continued to tease me about hugging her and making smoochy faces like a little kid. I said my goodbye to him as I reached my home. As I got myself undressed and into the bathroom, I keep thinking about what had just happened. I mean she was the one who asked for it. I just wanted to give one hug to her if she wanted it. I mean, she was looking sort of sad. But hey she was kind of cute when she blushed. Oh my gosh, what am I thinking? This is absurd, even for me. What if she secretly likes me? I chuckled at that thought as I dried myself with the towel.
Nah. That's impossible. Why would a cute and sensible girl like her like a mess like me? Wait, did I just call her cute? I shook that thought out of my mind and got onto my bed. I looked to the side and lazily grabbed my phone that was on the table. I checked my phone and there already messages from them.
Second mom : Hey are we walking to school the same way tomorrow? Meet up at Itsuki's house?
Violet : Yea sure.7.30?
Second mom: Yea. That'll do. Miu. You ok with it?
Miu : Yea. Can.
Itsuki : Pretty sure they said yes because they are too creeped out of you, Hideri.
Second mom: Hey , I'm approachable.
Itsuki : Yeaaaa, suureee. I'm gonna go sleep goodnight.
Second mom: Hey, you got something to say bout me? What did you mean by that?
Miu : Goodnight guys.
Violet : Gn
Second mom : Oi. Oi . Is somebody going to answer my questions?
Second mom: Hey.
Second mom: Heyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
Second mom : Fine . Fine by me.
I put down my phone, grinning. One thing Hideri can't beat me at is my jokes when I'm texting.
