BOOM!
Runningfor the safety of the support trench
returningfire was not an option.
a messageplayed over in his head
anothershell hit the side of the trench
dirt waschurning up, landing on his helmet
and stillthe message played over in his head
thesupport trench came into sight
themessage still played over in his head
so closeyet so far was the end
at last hehad reached the end
themessage became words
"tellthe artillery to shell a mile ahead
before weare shelled to death!"
"sir"
and withthat the messenger was a' peace and
collapsedinto an eternal sleep
