My heart was racing by the time we reached Taniths house. I was so nervous about what she might do to Meryl. As I got out of the car, I went over to Meryl's door and opened it for her. I reached for her hand and grabbed it as hard as I could. She must have sensed my nerves because she looked into my eyes and comforted me without words. We walked up to Tanith's door, I couldn't bring myself to ring the doorbell. Meryl saw the nervousness and fear in my eyes. She rang it for me. After a few seconds, Tanith came to answer the door. When she opened it, she jumped into my arms and said, "Oh my god Charlie! I haven't seen you in forever!" Then she glanced over in Meryl's direction. Uh oh Then she said, "What is SHE doing here?"
"Look Tanith, there's something I have to tell you." I said as I peeled her off of me.
"O god Charlie. Are you gonna break up with me?" Did I mention that Tantih is straight forward? Well if not, Tanith is straight forward.
"Yes." I said. I'm not a quick thinker. It was the best thing that I could come up with at the time.
Tanith looked in Meryl's direction. "No. No! NO. NO! You can't be breaking up with me for..." she paused. She looked at Meryl as if to determine what exactly she was, "THAT!"
"Hey. Don't drag Meryl into this!" I screamed. I never scream. What the hell am I doing!
"So it is her!" Tanith screamed louder.
"YES! YES IT IS! IS THAT A PROBLEM FOR YOU?"
"UGHHHHHHHH! I HATE YOU CHARLIE ALLEN WHITE! I. HATE. YOU."
"I HATE YOU TOO! I NEVER LOVED YOU! YOU WERE JUST SOMETHING TO BE THERE BECAUSE I THOUGHT THAT I COULD NEVER HAVE MY TRUE LOVE - MERYL ELIZABETH DAVIS!!!!"
"FOR YOUR INFORMATION CHARLES" she knows that I hate being called Charles, "I HAVE BEEN CHEATING ON YOU SINCE OUT FIRST DATE!"
"LOT I CARE!"
"GOOD BYE!"
She slammed the door my face. I almost forgot that Meryl was standing right there. I can't believe that I just did that in front of her! She's never seen me like that! Meryl wrapped her arms around me. I still feel that spark. That wonderful spark. The only difference is that I know she feels it too. But right then, I really needed her support. I mean, it wasn't hard because she was like the love of my life or something, but because I know that our lives won't be pleasant much longer. Tanith will find some way to ruin my life, but even more so....Meryl's.
