A Mostly Peaceful Town Near Mt. Ebott 199X-
Chara Dreemurr was only fourteen years old when she first murdered somebody.
It was a beautiful day outside. Birds were singing...the flowers were blooming.
She was walking home from school with a close friend.
It seemed like nothing could go wrong.
"Did you pass the Physics test, Chara?" Her friend asked, smiling.
"Eh...I guess," She replied, shrugging.
They watched as a lady with a fluffy white dog passed them. Chara noticed a box of dog treats sticking out of her purse. How convenient.
They made their way past a comic book store, a funeral home, and another school before she spoke again.
"...Martin?" She sighed and looked at her friend through her choppy bangs.
"Shoot," He answered, adjusting his orange baseball cap.
Chara stalled, kicking a small stone down the pavement.
The sun shone through the trees ahead of them. It was pretty bright, so they took a shortcut through an alleyway.
Martin stopped beside a dumpster, looking at her expectantly. Chara also stopped.
He blew a bubble with his chewing gum. She flinched when it popped.
"I..." She hesitated, rubbing her arm.
"I won't bite. You can tell me," He chuckled, raising an eyebrow.
Suddenly, Chara noticed three sturdy men enter the alley from the opposite side. One was holding a pistol.
As they got closer, she heard one of them say, "Lookie here. Two easy targets. Show us that you've got the guts to be in our gang, Charlie. Shoot 'em,"
Her eyes widened as the guy she guessed to be Charlie raised his weapon and carefully aimed it at Martin.
At this moment, she was thinking of only one thing: keep Martin safe.
He pulled the trigger.
Everything seemed to be going in slow motion as Chara turned to push her friend out of the way.
A gunshot was heard. Charlie was grinning.
Her Determination faltered as the bullet reached its destination.
Blood and lead forced its way through Martin's skull and out the side of his head. He had no time to react.
She opened her mouth, but no words escaped it.
He went completely limp and met the ground with a thud.
Chara stood and stared at his body in shock. It took only a moment for her Determination to fill her with blinding rage.
She clenched her fists. The red liquid that steadily ran through the cement's cracks pooled at her feet, drenching the alleyway in unforgiving Hatred.
"What did you do?" She growled. Her voice seemed different than her own.
One of the men snickered.
