Dawns P.O.V.
Happily I watch the children out side of the window play in the street. The small group of kids looks like they are having so much fun. I watch them for a few minutes till I notice one young boy sitting alone by the old oak tree. Its the little boy with the red shoes. Sadness slowly spreads across my face. I've notice that the boy with the red shoes has sat every day since a large red car left his home. That was almost 3 months ago. He sits the same way, his face hidden in his knees, with just enough uncovered so he could see and watch the other children play. Sometimes he cries, but non of the other children notice. Im always the only one too. Oh how I wish I could go to him and ask what is wrong.
Before my thoughts traveled any further about the boy with the red shoes, my mom shuts for me. I sigh, taking one more look out the window, at the children and boy, and run down the stairs to my mother. As I reach the bottom, I look around the room to find my mother in a frantic mess. She runs around the room fixing every small detail and mumbling to herself words I cant hear or understand. I step off the last stair and walk over to her. She didn't notice me.
"Mommy?" I say quietly, hoping she's not mumbling anything important that I might disturb.
My mother pauses and looks at me. After a few moments, she smiles and puts down whatever she is holding. She reaches down and picks me up.
"There you are Dawn, I've been looking all over for you!" She gently hugs me, then looks at her watch. I could of sworn she went pale. Quickly she walks over to the couch and sets me down.
"Dawn will you stay right there? Mommy has a few more things to fix up before a special guest comes over and I dont need you running off."
I nod, which makes my mother smile and begin running around frantically again. I lay back on the couch and relax. My mother has been going on and off about this guest for a few days now. I wonder why they are so important...
Again my thoughts are interrupted by a loud knock on the front door. My mother freezes dead in her tracks, as if she really did die. It takes her a few minutes to get together again and before she goes over to open the door, she runs over to me and kisses my cheek. Another knock comes from the door and my mother rushes over. As she opens the door the room suddenly becomes cold and dark. I wrap my arms around myself and shiver.
"Welcome sir, I'm glad you could make it." My mother bows and closes her eyes in.... Fear?
Its takes a minute, but a man walks threw the door. From what I can see, he's tall, has really fancy hair, and pretty blues eyes. Curiosity gets the better of me and I run up to the man. As I reach him I see he has a fancy suit thats pitch black. I reach out and touch it, ignoring the man.
My mother gasps and whisper yells and me to stop. That is, until the man put his hand up and silenced her. I looked up at the man, who was looking at my mother.
"Let her be, she has all right to be curious."
The man looks down at me and smiles. His blue eyes sparkling, causing me to look with awe. Gently he holds out his hands, motioning for permission to pick me up. I nod and reach up. Carefully he picks me up and holds me, facing my mother. She looks concerned, but the man pays no attention to it.
"Leave, I wish to be alone with her." My mother nods and heads to another room. But before she closes the door, she looks at the man and whispers quietly... "Her name is Dawn".
When the door closes, the man looks at me and smiles. "Hello Dawn, I'm Evan." I nod and smile back. Evan looks up and looks around before finding what he wants. Slowly he walks over to the couch and sets me down, sitting down himself. He stares at me for a moment.
"How old are you Dawn?" I hold up four fingers. He nods and smiles. "What's your favorite color?" I point at the wall nearest to us. "Green?" I nod and we both smile. "You don't talk much do you?" I shake my head, looking at him. He nods and looks at me. The room gets warm again. "Dawn may I give you something?" Slowly I nod, curious. He smiles and holds out his hand. I place my hand in his hand, waiting. He takes his other hand and gently places it on my arm. He waits for a few minutes, then removes his hand. Underneath is a fox symbol. I look up at Evan and smile. "Do you like it?" I nod, pulling my arm away and looking at it. "This is a very special gift I've given to you, its very important." I look up to Evan. "In 14 years time, you will see this little fox on your arm again, and I will appear next to you." The fox on my arm began disappearing. "And when I appear next to you, your going to become someone every important" Suddenly I begin to grow tired. I gently lay my head on Evans arm. "Someone I've already grown to love dearly." My eyes close and I begin to not hear what he is saying. I feel a gentle kiss on my forehead and hear 6 finally words... "Sweet dreams my sweet little one.."
