IF YOU REALLY want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don't feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth.

The first line from my favorite book, take a guess, I bet most of you read it in high-school. My name is Melody Dawes, I work down here in the archives of a very large company. I can't really say which one cause I don't wana get fired. All day I sit and read and file, my life is pretty boring.

Right now I am looking over some studies done on my company's product. Very hush hush type of stuff and uninteresting. I'm not looking it over because I really care but I need to know where this will go. Is the study complete, will it need to be referenced later, is this something any employee should be able to look up; these are the questions I need to answer all day long. I look around me and all I see are stacks of files, paper files, some of them as tall as I am. Questions and filing is all I can see.

The stacks are a depressing grey and the lighting is low and sterile, I sit at a off color green metal desk with one of those swirly chairs that you saw a lot back in the 80's. You know the ones that had a deceptively large seat, it makes it look comfy but just deflates? I sit in the back of the stacks, about fifty shelves back from the stairwell.

It can get lonely back here but I kinda like the quiet, when I was a kid I couldn't wait to hang out with other kids. Problem was that everyone in my neighborhood was ten years older or younger than me. I just grew to like the quiet and now it's kinda like a catch 22 thing; I get lonely but I can't really stand people for too long so I end up in places like this. Well it isn't just me down here but I might as well be, my partner is crime is this overweight guy named Gary. He's nice enough but he is a lot like me, likes the quiet. His desk is near the stairs but I never really see him more than when I come in for work. He leaves as soon as his shift is over and I have a habit of staying for lunch and after work. My life outside of this place is lacking and I end up doing here what I would at home. Truth be told when I actually finish with my piles of reports I end up reading quite a bit, I'll get into an adventure or drama so deeply I'll leave a few hours late.

10:45 am, Josh will be here any minute. He is the guy that brings down the reports that eventually end up on my desk. He is like a last link to the outside world when I am down here, a very sexy link. Caucasian with ruffled brown hair and just barely visible stubble, his shoulders are broad and has a rock hard chest and chin. His eyes are smoky and intense.

Here he comes now, stepping down the stairs a bit heavier than usual, carrying three filing boxes. The weight makes his muscles standout and tugs at his white dress shirt. He looks marvelous in business dress, the way his pants hug his waist you can just tell he has a finely toned abs. Setting the boxes down he loosens his red necktie and unbuttons his collar. He knows what he is doing to me.

"You look nice today." Josh looks me over and raises an eyebrow and all I can do is stare in silence. I am not as well dressed, a black blouse with a unflattering grey cardigan and a knee long skirt and dark pantyhose. I looked like a librarian, not a sexy librarian just a normal thirty year old one. Everything is puffy and my curves are hidden underneath it all and I am not even wearing makeup, but Josh doesn't care. He reaches out and brushes a stray strand of raven black hair over my ear. I blush and adjust my glasses before checking to make sure my hair is up like it should be. He reminds me of this jock I worshiped in high-school but back then no one would look at me. Now here I am sitting down in the stacks being ogled by the most handsome man in the company.

Slowly but deliberately Josh removes my glasses with one hand and removes the pin my hair with the other. As my hair falls his face comes closer, I can feel his breath on my nose and the tingle from his lips hovering just above mine. "I've noticed you for a long time, but today I need to make something clear. I need you."
