"She, well she still be grieving, but it doesn't excuse her behavior. It do good for her to get knocked down a peg or two to put her in her place," Mary sighs before putting a smiles on her face, "It's time for Dinner, or what is it ye Yanks call it? Supper?"
"Dinner is dinner, supper is what we call lunch, and we are not Yanks. Yanks are from the North, we are from the South." Elizabeth scoffs at Mary before she turns to walk back toward the Kitchen. Catching O'Seamus' confused look, Elizabeth adds, "trust me there is a difference, just don't ask. It's a very long story."
*~*After Dinner*~*
"She didn't have to give me a sugar free one," Menmen pouts as she sulks up the stairs with Kimiko beside her as they make their way to their rooms. Kimiko chuckles at her sister when they came to the top of the staircase.
"Yes, she did, Chicka. You are too hard to handle when you're on a sugar high," Kimiko says as she pats Menmen on her shoulder, "and don't even try to sneak down to the kitchen to pinch a tart. Mary said they're all gone." Menmen sighs heavily as her shoulders slump in defeat.
"Damn Mary, she as tough as ever."
"Good night Girls." Elizabeth surprises them with her stern voice, and they turn to see her giving Menmen a hard glare. "You stay away from the kitchen, no sugar for you. I don't want the sugar demon coming out too soon. You might scare everyone away," she commands Menmen before looking to Kimiko, "and you stay off the Internet and the Study Library. You will both have time for that tomorrow."
"Ummm, you do know that we're 22, right?" Kimiko states, slightly miffed that her mother had called her out so easily.
"Yes, I am aware both of you are 22, I was there at your birth. But I am still your mother and you're still my kids. So basically, what I say goes in my house." She winked at her. "Oh, and both of you stay out of the book and supplies you brought along with you."
"Ahhh BUT MOM...." They beg in unison.
"No buts." She looks over her shoulder as O'Seamus comes to the top of the stairs to stand behind them. "Is there a reason you are staying on my tail or are you just plan on stocking me?" O'Seamus blinks down at her in confusion.
"Nay Mrs. O'Neal I not be stocking ye," he says as he takes a quick step back from her, "it's just that after dinner the Family Head Mr. McClain always dismissed us, if not we were to follow him until he did." He looks over to Mary for some support. "You have yet to dismiss us."
"I am not my Uncle, O'Seamus. I don't dismiss anyone. Firstly, because it's rude and my mother taught me better manners than that. Secondly, in case you haven't noticed we're in the 21st century. You're all free that live and work here, the times of serfs are long over," she pauses to looks over to Mary and the girls, "and I mean both families, The McClain's and the O'Seamus'."
O'Seamus slowly nods at Elizabeth's words, trying to take in their true meaning. After a few minutes of silence he just nods again before descending the stairs down to his rooms with a look of pure amazement on his face.
"Well, well dear cousin I do believe ye just blown his mind." Mary smiles at her as she turns to the girls who were still lingering in the hallway.
"Yes, I think I did just that Mary." Elizabeth sighs as she rolls her shoulders. "Hope you don't mind it much Mary, but there are definitely going to be more changes around here than just a new Family Head."
"Good, tis about time someone did some shaking up here, tis be for the best," Mary says as loops her arm in Elizabeth's. "Shall we go have a talk about them?" Elizabeth smiles as they walk down to the Family Heads room. Menmen glances over to Kimiko, both smiling as they hear the door to their mother's room shut.
