After leaving work, all Brooke wanted to do was crash on the couch with a full glass of red wine. It was the slow days that begged her for a nightly drink.

However, the day before she just finished off the last of her liquor.

At the corner store, there was only the occasional shopper, none of which was on the aisle with the various options of cheap alcohol.

That meant either one of two things. All of the good stuff was picked clean, or people were too picky to purchase grocery store wine.

Sure enough, Brooke was able to find the best one to suit her taste, reaching up to grab one of the two bottles.

"No."

A hand had covered Brooke's, whose was wrapped around the neck of the glass. Her jaw dropped as she was about to cuss whoever was behind her, but when she turned, her gaze met one that only could be described as run-down.

Skin dry, eyes dark, cheeks pink. A white baseball cap, covered his hair as a mask laid around his chin.

"Can I help you? There's another one just like it," Brooke tried to laugh it off, but it came out entirely too fake and dry.

He leaned down farther, eyes meeting hers. "Don't you know this isn't good for you?"

Suddenly, Brooke jerked free of his grip before hugging the wine. "Only if you're irresponsible. I'm of age and know what the fuck I'm doing. But thanks for the concern." Her eyes never left his while he licked his lips. "I'm a woman, why are you even telling me this?"

"I need both, please," His voice raised from the hushed tone he previously had. "I'm all out. And I'm telling you 'cause this shit ruins lives."

Brooke scoffed. "You don't need both. One will suit. If you want something stronger, why are you going for wine, anyway? And if you're telling me, why the hell are you buying it yourself?"

"I don't have to answer your questions, mind your own business." he answered quickly. "Wine isn't the strongest, but I'm willing to pay."

By now, she was conflicted. She knew what it felt like to be out of liquor, desperate for wanting a good supply to come home to.

The guy tilted his head back and pinched the bridge of his nose. "You know what? Here." He reached into his back pocket and pulled out his wallet. His movements were swift, not giving Brooke enough time to register what was happening.

"What the hell are you doing?"

"Take it," he handed her some money. "Fair trade, right?"

Brooke grinned. "Wow." She looked up to him and tilted her head, tongue poking the inside of her cheek. "You seem even more desperate than me."

He sighed, wishing the girl would just hand over the damn wine. "I'm really not in the mood to fuss about this, hurry up."

"No, no," Brooke cut him off, holding up a hand to his face as he took a step closer. "The only fair thing to do is share it. Don't you think?"

This wasn't uncommon of her to offer a stranger to share a drink. To Brooke, it beat going to bars.

He parted his lips, eyes shifting from the wine bottle back to her gaze. "I..." He scrunched his nose, wondering why he was even thinking about an answer.

She raised her eyebrows expectantly. "Hm? Plus, we can keep each other in check. I'm not in the mood to get drunk anyway."

His eyes narrowed. "Are you insinuating we go to your place?"

In response, Brooke shrugged with her bottom lip poked out. "Or your's. Doesn't matter to me."

The guy dragged his teeth over his bottom lip. "Rather it be your place."

Brooke smirked, grabbing his wrist. "'Kay, but you're paying for this in return. Also, swearing to me you won't kill me once we get back."

He sighed, pulling his mask back up to cover half his face as they began to walk towards the register. "Trust me, if murdering you crossed my mind, I would've had no shame in doing it right now..."

They were ringing up the drink at the register before Brooke's eyebrows came together. "Say... I never caught your name, sly guy."

He was busy stuffing his receipt in his pocket as he mumbled an answer.

"Yoongi."
