EXTERIOR.  TRINITY BELLWOODS PARK.  LATE AFTERNOON.

Cookie and Mouse walk across a broad expanse of open green space.  There is a large maple tree in the short distance.  The sky is cloudless and a saturated turquoise.  Cookie is dragging her backpack behind her as she walks.  It leaves a track of flattened grass in her wake, tracing her path.

Cookie leads the way silently.

They stop underneath the tree's canopy.  Mouse unslings her backpack and removes a red and white checked tablecloth.  It is folded severely into a perfect and unwrinkled square.  Mouse lays the tablecloth on the ground and begins unpacking containers of food onto its center.

Cookie has been investigating the tree and is swinging from a low-hanging limb.  She drops to the ground after a moment to join Mouse.

        COOKIE

Are we eating with our hands like barbarians today?

        MOUSE

Sits crosslegged and closes her eyes.

        Seems fitting.

        COOKIE

Crouching beside the food, growls softly under her breath.

Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.

        MOUSE

        Savant.

        COOKIE

        Huh?

        MOUSE

Rolling a grape between her fingers.

        Precisely.
