~A few weeks after the battle of Crait~

Kylo Ren sat with his elbows on the table, his head resting in his hands. He sighed, closing his eyes, rubbing them with his palms. Opening them, he looked around his room through the hair falling in front of his vision.

It was a mess.

Clothes and other objects were strewn all over the floor, a collection of discarded bottles building up in the corner. Ren stood slowly, pushing his hair back off his face as he did so.

He knew Rey had to go. He knew that she couldn't join him. But he didn't deny the pain he felt— the regret he had.

Where are you, Rey?

____________

Rey sat up as she jolted awake, panting. She took a couple shuddering breaths, then fell back onto her pillow with her hands on her forehead. She sighed, dropping her hands onto the bed.

It's the third time this week she's had this nightmare.

She hears screaming, and she's running—running towards the sound. It's a man, and he's in pain. A long hallway that keeps getting longer, as if it has no end. She's panicking, and she can't help him. He yells her name. She yells back, "Ben!" Suddenly the scene changes, and she's in a room. A man with wild black hair is bleeding, bruised and beaten, chained to a chair. Rey reaches out to him, and the dream ends.

She got out of bed and strolled over to the only window in the small room. Stars zoomed past, blue and white streaks of light shooting by. The Millennium Falcon had entered lightspeed last night, and General Leia had hoped they would reach their destination by midday. She had been searching the past two weeks for a planet with conditions suitable enough for a new Resistance base. So far she had found the planet Latuul, an old and abandoned Rebel base like Crait.

Rey rubbed her face. She had been feeling, well, plain gross for the past week. She was dizzy, disoriented, unfocused, and her leg had been aching for a few days now.

Spying her clothes at the foot of the bed, Rey got dressed in them, taking off her nightclothes and tossing them onto the bed. She pulled the dark tunic down over her head, and slipped on her leggings. After tying up her boots, Rey draped the fabric over her shoulders and secured it with her belt. Her eyes caught a glimpse of her broken lightsaber on the nightstand as she shut the door behind her.

Her boots clanked on the metal floors as she walked through the halls towards the central lounge.

____________

Kylo drained the bottle and tossed it into the corner with the others. He limped over to the dimly lit sink and grabbed a towel. He had accidentally hit his leg on his desk a few days ago, and it still hurt to put pressure on it.

He sighed, getting the towel wet with warm water. As he began to wash his face, something made him pause.

____________

Rey stopped in her tracks, sensing something...familiar. The hallway lights dimmed as she turned around.

"Hello, Rey."

Rey inhaled sharply. It's been weeks since she's heard the deep voice of Kylo Ren, who now stood before her. She couldn't tell where he was, other than the fact that the room was dark. He looked...bad. Rey frowned.

"...Ben?"

She wiped her worried expression off her face. She licked her lips and paused a moment before turning around and walking away. She heard a distant "Rey!" Before shutting the bond.

____________

Kylo slid down to his knees, resting his back against the sink, his head in his hands.
