25th October 2015
There I was, sitting awkwardly across the cafeteria, the brightly lit cafeteria. Music from the gymnasium seeping through the windows and doors and into our ears. The music wasn't great but it wasn't horrible either. It was the type of music that made you move without you even noticing it.
There you were, sitting across from me. On the other side of the cafeteria. surrounded by people I don't know. You didn't seem to care much for them. You were too busy dancing to the beat of the music. You were dancing like you were along in the room. As soon as you realized, you smiled sheepishly, and looked around to see if anyone had seen you dancing.
Then you looked across the room. Our eyes locked for a second and you smiled, probably hoping I didn't see you dance, but the memory kept on playing inside my head so I chuckled. And even though we were a bit far, it was obvious that you were blushing.
I didn't know if we would ever see each other again after this. If we would ever talk after this. You stood up with your friends and left. While I stayed with mine and I was left to be bored.
What was a few minutes but felt like hours we decided to head to the gymnasium. Where the party is. As this is a school event, all the people I know in school are there, as I see them, we exchange a few words. Mostly greetings.
As we got to the floor, me and my friends got separated. It was a rave party after all. So people would be all over the place, it was dimly lit except for the beams of bright flashing lights of various colors and patterns. Music that seemed to reach your heart through every beat.
There you we're, raving your heart out, and at that moment I really felt that time had slowed down. Your hair cascading to your back and you perfect smile that never seemed to fade. Your eyes that sparkled. It was you since that moment. That I ran out of words to describe you. Ironic seeing as I haven't even met you.
A few minutes passed by and I saw you again, but this time you were alone, sitting on the bleachers... probably resting. You jumped too much, HAHAHA.
10:49
It was almost 11:00 pm. The party would only last until 11. So I decided to just go with it. To break out of my shell and approach you. I sat down beside you on the cold hard bleachers. My body seemingly taking in more details than it should. You were beside me, awfully close.
I turned to you, offered my hand and introduced myself. I remarked on how awkward this was. To talk to a stranger, and you gave me this small laugh. It was small, but it was cute. You introduced yourself. Bianca. That was your name. You told me your school and from which city you're from.
I asked who you were with, and to your reply you said they were just friends, and that they had already left. As we continued to talk and talk and talk through the last moments of the party. I didn't notice that you and I had been inching towards each other until our shoulders touched and I could feel your breath on my neck.
The DJ announced that he would do a last dance, for the people that still stayed to party. I don't remember the song. Only that you said that this was your favorite. But through the course of knowing a bit of you, you told me that you have too much favorite songs that they might all be your favorite but I do know that you would pick Paramore over anyone else.
You told me that since it was the last dance that we got together. Right in the middle, where it's the most fun part of the whole rave. You stood up, held out your hand so I took it, and lead you to the middle, where you held onto my right hand with your left, and I took your right in my left and we prepared to jump for the last rave. The last drop. and as it came Our hands were together, our faces mere inches apart. Our bodies almost touching. We were both laughing so much after that. We looked stupid, we both said at the same time. And we laughed even more.
And officially the party was over, people were leaving but we stayed a bit behind. Just tosit down and look at the now empty dance floor. You said you had to go, so I stood up and offered to take you home. or at least to make sure you were safe since it was already really late. And you took me up on that offer, only I only brought you to your mother's car.
As you were about to leave, I called you out, you answered and came back to the sidewalk. I asked for your number so we exchanged phones to exchange numbers. I didn't notice that you had followed me on twitter as well. As we handed back eachother's phones back. we bid our goodbye's to each other, and shook hands. And as it was the first time, it seemed like there was a jolt of electricity passing by our hands. A jolt that made me want to hold on much longer. You smiled at me. A bright beautiful smile. And it was perfect.
And that's how we met. In a brightly lit cafeteria to a dark dance floor. and finally to the cold and windy pavement.
