This story is dedicated to my friend, Michael, because without him it wouldn't have happened.

He'll deny it, but without his support and willingness to read it countless times as I wrote it, rewrote it, chopping and changing bits all over the place, it wouldn't be the story it is now. He provided insight, encouragement and an excitement for it that kept my enthusiasm up, even during the difficult times.

He felt every emotion I tried to convey in my words...and that's the best gift a reader can give a writer.

Thank you, as ever to my family, who allow me to shut myself away and spin my fanciful yarns, and my friends who put up with me being late to things and changing arrangements because I 'just got lost writing'.

Thank you for letting me indulge my hobby. I'm eternally grateful.
