Promises of life

You lowered your toes into the blackness,

As though to test if it was chilly,

And right when it shimmered ,

You were more scared than you had told,

Light wrote words into a life ring,

Something to keep your brightness in you,

But against the strength of the howling night,

The brightness sunk down,

Light don't know what darkness to you,

What wondrous it planned to do,

But the light watched you die inside,

Along the will to fight,

Light shined bright to pierce the darkness,

But it was long way gone,

Caught in between the void of nothingness,

And wanting to vanish,

light once heard you were scared of darkness,

And you'd never learnt to swim ,

But with the darkness through your veins,

You held your breath and leaped in.
