My name is Zak and I'm 20 years old. I'm a journalist, looking for mystery. Today I walked in the lobby at St. Jude's hospital for my monthly check up. I started walking towards the elevator and went to the 10th floor. Half way there I saw that the buttons were malfunctioning. I keep pressing the buttons but none of them seem to work. Suddenly the doors opened but it wasn't the 10th floor. The number was fading from the walls. Everything was pitch black and I couldn't see what was in front of me. I only had my phone as a light but it was about to die. "fuck!" I said to myself, I kept walking slowly as the floors were covered in lose paper and medical equipment. I looked at the end of the narrow hallways, only pitch black. I started heading back towards the elevator but the button seemed to be jammed. "Great" I said to myself as I walked back towards the narrow hallway. I started to make my way towards the exit stairs. As I walk towards the exit, the lights went out with only my phone as a flash. In the distance I see the only light but there was someone standing there, looks like it could be a little girl standing in the middle of the hallway. I started to make my way towards her but when I got close the lights turned on and the girl was gone. "What the fuck?" I said to myself as I made my way back. I started looking around to see if there was any clue about this place. I notice that all the rooms have a number, except one. Number 13. As I started walking in the room i notice that it was a little kids room. I found a couple toys, books and a journal. The journal had belonged to a girl named Alice. The Journal says: "December 5, 1987. I made a friend today, her name is Bri. She has been here way longer than me. She tells me about her story and how she got here. Sometimes Bri leaves for a while and doesn't come back until a couple days later. I wonder where they take her. It's so quiet and cold in here. I want to go home. I miss my mommy. I'm going to sleep now. Until then-Alice. "That is so fucked up" i said. Suddenly I heard a banging noise outside the room. I quickly grabbed the journal and put it in my pocket. I rushed out the room and i saw this little girl again but this time she was pointing at something. I turned around and I saw this creature strapped down in a bed covered in blood. I started slowly making my way to the stairs. The creature was getting closer and closer. The lights turned back on and the creature was gone. "what the FUCK was that! I yelled. I grabbed a fire extinguisher and opened the jammed door, leading to the first floor. As I walked down the stairs I could hear foot steps behind me.

I stood there paralyzed, unable to move. I could feel my heart beat racing so fast I felt sick. I slowly started walking down the stairs ignoring the creature. I finally made it to the first floor and make my way to the entrance. I kept reading the journal and it says " December 6,1987. Today they took Bri to a room and I haven't seen her. I am scared and alone. I haven't eaten for 5 days. I can see my rib bones. I'll keep writing tomorrow. Until then-Alice. "How sad and depressing, what happened here." I started walking and I felt a water drop. I looked up and half the building was destroyed. "Poor patients, I couldn't even imagine what they went through in here." As I walk a few feet more I saw the little girl, but this time she ran in a room. I ran behind her and I saw that she went in room 9 as I found out a small diary that belonged to Bri. "This must've been her room" I said quietly. I started flipping trough pages and I found an old picture of her but there was someone behind her. I could hardly distinguish the person. Making my way out the room I saw scratch marks covered in blood. I started walking back towards the entrance. I notice that the back of the journal there's a note. "A1"that must be the Roof I said. I rushed to the stares but it was jammed. I head back and found a crack in the elevator that lead me to the roof. When I got to the top it was cold and empty. Nothing else but silence. As I turned around I notice this girl standing right in front of me. Looking right in my eyes. She glanced a look at me and said "this is where I ended it." I looked at her and she gave me a big hug and said to me "Thank you" as she vanished into thin air. I kept the journal in memory of Alice.
