Hanging in the attic

The attic was silent,

The noose was set.

He was about to die,

But then their eyes met.

A childhood toy,

Sitting on a chair.

A sign of a past,

That was no longer there.

Walking over,

He picked Bear up,

And hugged him tight,

Just for luck.

Then gripping his paw,

The boy walked back.

And kicked the chair away,

Falling like a sack.

His corpse was found later,

When they knew it was wrong.

Their beloved son gone,

Two days was too long.

The mum blamed herself.

She started the fight.

But then dad told her,

It would be alright.

But it really wasn't,

'Cause young Ed was scarred.

It was his older brother,

That hang from the bars.

This is for my friend's brother, who committed suicide two years ago from today. My friend was the person who found the body, his brother's bear laying on the floor. He said it looked like his brother was holding it when he died. My friend is now damaged for life, and has nightmares constantly. Please don't commit suicide. Please. Love you all. xxx
