Where Have You Been All My Life? (Gajeel X Reader)

Chapter 1

The sun was just beginning to set over the East Forest of Magnolia when you emerged. A portal closing behind you as you looked around the darkening forest. Warm spring air surrounded you and the sweet smell of nature filled your nose.

Your mission was to find Fairy Tail, but exhaustion overtook you despite how anxious you were. Not to mention you weren't completely sure which direction Magnolia was at this point. You decided it would be best to wait until sunrise.

You looked for a place to camp out for the night. A rather large tree with comically large branches caught your attention. You climbed up to a branch big enough to sleep on. Making yourself comfortable with only your cloak as a blanket and bag as a pillow.

A man's voice rang through your head. 'Infiltrate Fairy Tail, gather information on Infinity Skull, destroy them, then wait for extraction. No time for personal bonds or relationships.' You sighed deeply.

'Why did I get myself into this mess?' You thought to yourself as you drifted off.

Nothing but sand surrounded you and your black jackal. Something caught your eye and to your surprise another person was riding next to you. Something about them felt familiar.

He was smiling at you, putting you at ease as you rode next to this man. Your friend. The two of you entered a town that had buildings made of sand stone. The towns silence was eerily deafening.

There was a single building made of steel. You dismounted from your jackals and went in. After entering everything started fading and you felt weak. You could see figures around you, but couldn't make them out. They picked you up, but that's all you could remember.

You woke with a start, trying to fight the feeling from your dream. Rubbing your eyes with the back of your hands, you took a deep breath then stretched. You jumped down and started making your way towards Magnolia.

-Small time skip-

Magnolia was so large it was almost overwhelming. As you walked through you took in all the sights and smells of this lively town. Everyone was kind and helpful in your quest to find the Fairy Tail building.

The guild turned out to be a straight shot from where you'd entered town. Excitement and anxiety overtook you as the guild came into view. Your whole body felt like it was vibrating.

So many things were running through your mind you almost didn't notice the commotion coming from the guild. There was a lot of shouting and random blasts, but it suddenly stopped.

Something in your gut told you it was bad news. You quickened your pace, breaking out into a run. The gates of the guild were closed, but you could clearly see what was happening.

The seen in front of you made your blood boil. You watched as people you recognised as Infinity Skull members, fighting members of Fairy Tail. Something didn't make sense to you though. You'd heard Fairy Tail was a large guild, and yet there were so few members. 'I wonder where they all are?'

Two Fairy Tail members were yelling and crying, bringing you back from your thoughts. They shouted and plead for them to give 'her' back, that they'd do anything and just please don't hurt 'her'. It was then you realized that one of the goons terrorizing the guild was holding a little girl at knife point.

Your body reacted before your mind did. You jumped into action, quite literally as you made it over the gate. The man didn't know what hit him as you caught his arm then kicked in the back of his knees. He dropped the girl trying to catch himself, but fell face first into the dirt.
